Appointment requirements

• Ability to perform duties
• Basic literacy
• Chain saw operator certificate
• Relevant working experience in operating a chainsaw will be an added advantage
• Physical fitness and good health with the ability to carry equipment and machines
• Must undergo a criminal record check and such a person shall allow their fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at own cost
• Willingness and ability to work shifts

Primary functions

• Perform the reactive pruning and felling of trees and other vegetation on road reserves and in public open spaces using mechanical and non-mechanical equipment and tools, including aerial platforms and truck-mounted cranes
• Load branches and debris due to storms and at sites where the pruning or felling of trees and other vegetation have been done
• Maintain mechanical and non-mechanical equipment used in the execution of duties, as well as the allocated vehicle
• Use and operate an aerial platform and associated tasks as and when required during the pruning and felling of trees and other vegetation
• Assist as and when required with the operation of truck-mounted cranes and other associated tasks
• Deliver an emergency service after hours pertaining to the pruning and felling of trees and other vegetation
• Adhere to all health and safety regulations, and other required policies and procedures
• Assist with and perform all prescribed safety measures, tasks and duties at road works
