    Client Marketing, Senior Manager – SSA

    Job Description

    1. Purpose

     

    • Sub-Regional Leadership in managing all clients’ dollars (Cash and VIK), directly impacting Visa net revenue and influencing the volume of business with a client with sharp focus on driving NR & Margins

    • This role is also accountable for planning and working with the Core Marketing team to ensure implementation and execution of the Visa marketing strategy for South Africa. This regional plan with include all business priorities, including VIK delivery, X-Border, E-Comm, SMB, New Payment Flows and Digital solutions and merchant partnerships

    • Working with Research and Insights team from Hub, identify opportunities in the market through tracking of key payment trends, cardholder behavior, etc. and evaluate them to create strategic recommendations for future business propositions.

    • Working with Core Marketing team to oversee the implementation of integrated marketing campaigns and programs to build the Visa brand and achieve agreed geography marketing and business objectives.

    • Collaborate with merchants and clients in the region in the creation of usage campaigns, provide opportunities for bank leveraging off Visa campaigns & work with both internal and external stakeholders to develop joint marketing campaigns.

    2. Principle Responsibilities/Key Results Area –

     

    Client Marketing Leadership – 80% of the Role

    • With support of a team of 1 FTE (for now) develop and provide realisation of co-marketing strategies and plans with the strategic clients of Visa in South Africa

    • Articulate a Client Marketing strategy and approach for South Africa ensuring relevant engagement frameworks for various tiers of clients.

    • Drive diversification of Marketing services to clients focusing on those that add value to clients and deliver higher margins for Visa.

    • Ensure efficiencies in delivery of client marketing initiatives across the region.

    • Develop and implement annual co-marketing strategies with key clients across the region ensuring clear revenue targets for the client marketing cluster.

    • Working with Regional Client Marketing Director – coordinate the implementation of  integrated marketing plans that support both the client and Visa strategic goals - on a yearly basis and update quarterly as appropriate

    • Continually monitor existing and potential competitors marketing activities to identify new opportunities or highlight potential causes for business concern.  Propose opportunities where Visa’s and the client’s differentiated proposition can be used to counter these competitors threats.

    • Work closely with Visa Consulting & Analytics to identify opportunities to grow revenues within client portfolios and deliver executions to capitalize on these opportunities

    • Earn marketing thought leadership with clients by providing insight driven, data focused and actionable marketing recommendations and solutions for assigned products and services

    • Develop and foster strong relationships with clients and contribute positively to the Net Promoter Score from clients.

    • Provide support of all marketing activities and product development with appropriate market analysis and consumer research available.

    • Work closely with Finance on VIK delivery revenue forecasting and tracking on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

    • Develop media and digital benchmarks and KPI’s for marketing activities within the scope of responsibilities to improve effectiveness (together with media agency)

    • Provide quantitative post-campaign and regular performance analysis in due time and incorporate learnings into future projects.

    • Lead and develop the team professionally and in terms of Visa leadership skills

     

    Head of Marketing – South Africa – 20% of the role

    • Working closely with the Head of Client Marketing - work with Sub-Regional leadership to articulate a comprehensive plan for Marketing support activity to deliver regional goals

    • Oversee the implementation of the marketing initiatives as per Marketing plan in order to achieve Marketing and business objectives.

    • Contribute to the identification of new market opportunities that will increase services to clients, merchants and cardholders and increase the value of the Visa brand.

    • Working with the Regional Client Marketing Lead and Core Marketing team- effectively manage all stakeholders responsible for the successful implementation of all activities including agencies, suppliers, merchants, and others as appropriate. Ensure key stakeholders are fully informed of all Marketing activities.

    • Drive commercialization and activation of global sponsorship and partnerships, local sponsorships and product platform initiatives in the region through clients as well as Visa-Led initiatives

    • Working with the measurement team, deliver return on investment for all marketing spends.

    • Share best practice and successful programmes with other Visa Regional offices.

    • Working with the Marketing Planning team, manage the allocated budget for respective assets and activities and ensure all activities are performed within parameters fully and on time in accordance with Visa policies and requirements.

     

    3. Strategic Nature, Management Accountability, & Scope

    This is a critical role for protecting and developing Visa business with its strategic client.  

    This is a key role to drive net revenue and PV.

    Success measured by performance against KPI's such as Net Revenue, total PV with the client, total volume of marketing activities performed for the client, client NPS.

    4. Decision Making & Complexity

    Accountable for planning and implementation of all co-marketing activities with the client including VIK and Cash.

    5. Financial & Organizational Scope

    Administration of the allocated marketing budget to include monitoring, budget log management, variance analysis, liaison with finance and reporting of monthly budget forecasts

    6. Reporting Relationships & Interactions

    This position reports to Head of Client Marketing, SSA.  The candidate will interact with various levels of management across the organization – Global, Regional and within SSA. Strong interpersonal skills are required to address on-going needs of the organization.

    Qualifications

    • Significant experience in marketing. Minimum 8 years in a role related to planning and executing 360 degrees marketing strategies and campaigns.
    • Innovative and creative thinker with a track record of delivery and ability to manage several projects concurrently and see them through from conception to conclusion
    • Is a strong team player, able to work on multiple projects and in a multi-functional teams
    • Is comfortable working in a fast paced, hands-on, growth orientated work environment, must be adaptive to change
    • Is self-confident and able to think on their feet
    • Strong personal motivation and commitment
    • Is proactive and demonstrate initiative
    • Has strong commercial acumen
