Cloud Engineering: IT Administrator at Rain South Africa

Job Purpose:

• You will be responsible for overseeing IT purchases, managing stock, and handling daily IT administrative tasks to ensure the smooth operation of our IT systems. Your attention to detail and technical expertise will be essential in supporting our organization's technology needs.

Key Responsibilities:
 IT Purchases:

• Collaborate with various departments to identify IT equipment and software needs.
• Research, recommend, and source IT hardware and software solutions, ensuring cost-effectiveness and quality.
• Create and maintain relationships with vendors and negotiate procurement agreements.

 Stock Management:

• Maintain an accurate inventory of IT equipment, ensuring appropriate stock levels.
• Conduct regular audits and reconcile discrepancies in stock records.
• Handle the disposal and recycling of obsolete IT assets in an environmentally responsible manner.

 Daily IT Administrative Tasks:

• Provide technical support to end-users, including troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
• Install, configure, and maintain hardware and software, including operating systems and applications.
• Perform routine system maintenance and updates to ensure system security and reliability.
• Monitor and manage backup and recovery processes.
• Assist in the implementation of IT policies and procedures.
• Maintain documentation for IT assets, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.

. Security and Compliance:

• Assist in implementing and enforcing IT security policies and practices.
• Conduct regular security assessments and ensure compliance with data protection regulations.

Requirements:

• Proven experience in IT administration, including hardware and software procurement and management.
• Strong knowledge of IT systems, networks, and infrastructure.
• Proficiency in operating systems (Windows, macOS, Linux) and common business software applications.
• Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with IT security best practices and data protection regulations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with various teams and external vendors.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Preferred Qualifications (not required but a plus):
• IT certifications (e.g., CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+).
• Experience with IT asset management software.
• Knowledge of virtualization technologies.
• Familiarity with cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure)
