    Communications Manager - Durban

    Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

    • Manage relationships, processes, prioritisation, and goal setting with regards to communication. 
    • Create and implement a business plan related to a context-driven communications strategy and use it to support the execution of organisational design. 
    • Lead resource acquisition and support activities. 
    • Participate in senior and cross-functional teams with a solid grasp of how communications link to organisational strategy and THINK's work. 
    • Specify the skills and evaluate team and individual performance required to execute the communications plan.  
    • Uphold the organisation's reputation and advance its brand in the eyes of the public. This includes crisis management and reaction, official statements, and the placement of ambassadors and spokespeople. 
    • Develop comprehensive advocacy strategies that align with THINK's mission and objectives, identifying key issues, target audiences, and strategic approaches. 
    • Drive the execution of advocacy plans to influence policy decisions, public perception, and awareness related to THINK's focus areas. 
    • Track and analyse the impact of campaigns and advocacy efforts, using metrics to assess effectiveness, reach, and engagement levels. 
    • Provide regular reports to internal stakeholders on the progress and outcomes of advocacy initiatives. 
    • Ensure that all organisation's strategic communication tools align with the communications strategy. 
    • Inform external audiences of the Plan's accomplishments and lessons learned, influencing policy changes and enhancing the organisation's visibility. 
    • Collaborate with program staff to communicate essential information to external stakeholders through various channels, including reports, conferences, events, social media, and conventional media. 
    • Supervise and coordinate communication projects involving personalities, international media teams, and influential parties. 
    • Create systems that allow employees to share information effectively, guaranteeing that organisational advancements are communicated promptly and highly. 
    • Use the proper means to communicate organisational plans, priorities, and goals to all employers on approved channels. 
    • Oversee internal policy, procedure, and strategy communication, including creating newsletters, periodicals, and website updates. 
    • Ensure brand elements' precise and consistent use in all external and internal communications and events.
    • Direct the production of marketing materials for the organisation, such as the Country Annual Progress Report.
    • Create and implement the Marketing and Branding Strategy and strategies to increase THINK's exposure.
    • Collect, manage, and use vital data to support program objectives, external publications, and strategic direction. 
    • Document and safeguard corporate communication and marketing materials to facilitate sharing and use as a resource. 
    • Promote a learning culture by disseminating best practices, accomplishments, and exemplary cases to improve learning and knowledge sharing. 
    • Provide guidance, support, and coaching to employees seeking to enhance their skills, advance their careers, and achieve their development goals. 
    • Keep up to date with industry trends, learning technologies, and innovative approaches to staff development to ensure that the organisation remains competitive in its efforts to nurture employee growth. 
    • Regularly provide reports to the head of the department.
    • Ad hoc functions as required. 

    Requirements:

    • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, political science, international relations, or a related discipline.
    • Masters’s Degree in communications, public relations, political science, international relations, or a related discipline will be advantageous.
    • Three to five years’ experience in a relevant field, including marketing and communication management.
    • Knowledge of the NGO sector, particularly HIV/AIDS/TB/Sustainable livelihoods, food security, health, and energy.
    • Written and verbal fluency in English; additional languages are an advantage.
    • Knowledge of desktop publishing
