Communications Specialist at Santam Insurance

What you will do:
This exciting opportunity is available in our Corporate Communications department at Head Office in Cape Town to fulfil a Communications Specialist role. The Communication Specialist will be responsible for the achievement of communication plans that are aimed at specific stakeholders (internal or external).

• Enable tactical delivery of communication plans.
• Draft content (e.g. press releases) for mass media or company website
• Liaise with media and handle requests for interviews, statements etc
• Foster relationships with internal key stakeholders
• Assist in communication of strategies or messages from senior leadership
• Provide answers to media enquiries (including drafting and sign-off).
• Monitor delivery of agencies on implementation of plans.
• Be a communications partner for a range of cross-functional teams across the business.
• Ensure alignment with the brand, marketing, market development teams.
• Conduct communication audits to measure achievement of objectives.
• Manage communication to clients, establish and maintain a business relationship from a communications environment.
• Assist and advise all divisions in their communication efforts to clients (communication action plans).
• Assist with the conceptualisation and management of social media content.
• Proficiency in the usage of new age digital innovations such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter etc. to deliver PR messages.
• Assist with the development of annual communication strategies and plans.
• Assist Marketing in finding efficient communication methods to communicate per segment and identify communication opportunities.

What will make you successful in this role:

• Experience in editing, summarising and rewriting copy
• At least 4 years’ communication experience, including journalistic/writing experience as well as experience in a corporate communication environmen
•  Crisis management experienc
• Experience working with digital/social media
• Experience in developing and executing successful communications plans directed towards multiple stakeholders
•  Abreast of current communications trends

Qualifications 

• Relevant B-degree Qualification in Communications / Journalism or similar field
