    Corporate Actions Manager - Markets

    Role Purpose

    To achieve team and business goals by providing effective leadership and management, ensuring high quality service is provided to relevant stakeholders and creating greater efficiencies whilst being mindful of risk, process and compliance adherence.

    Responsibilities

    • Monitor, manage and enable daily operations to ensure Corporate Actions activities are executed effectively, including:
    • Adherence to client SLA’s
    • Timely communication of market announcements to relevant clients
    • Instructions are correctly actioned within agreed time-lines
    • Adherence to reporting requirements
    • Market time-lines are met
    • 100% compliance with all relevant rules and directives applicable to the specific market (e.g. STRATE and JSE)
    • Enquiries are accurately processed within agreed time-frames
    • Timely communication of market developments, initiatives, enhancements and changes to affected clients
    • Provide guidance to the team to resolve problems
    • Review quarterly PMM report with the CSD (STRATE) and the team and follow-up on agreed actions
    • Analyse market survey results and take corrective action where required (e.g. Global Custodian, Alexander Forbes, etc)
    • Analyse dashboards/MI to identify trends within processes
    • Collate and produce MI report in a timely manner and send to Corporate Actions Head
    • Utilize MI report to inform possible improvements within the area
    • Ensure adherence to all regulatory rules and directives
    • Be proactive in monitoring, identifying and mitigating risk
    • Actively participate in regulatory and directive commentary to compliance officer
    • Stay abreast of market developments
    • Analyse reports / surveys and identify and implement process and system enhancements to improve client service levels
    • Monitor existing processes to evaluate possible efficiencies whilst maintaining and improving quality
    • Drive innovations within the team to ensure constant improvement
    • Proactively manage clients’ expectations and ensure service levels are proactive, consistent and of the highest standards
    • Keep Head of Corporate Actions informed of trends, escalated queries, potential losses and process / system challenges
    • Manage stakeholders’ needs and expectations and resolve escalated issues in a prompt and timely manner
    • Act speedily to resolve problems, conflicts and bottlenecks as required
    • Use influence and negotiation to achieve win-win outcomes
    • Continually scan industry to identify opportunities to create strategic partnerships with relevant individuals and/or bodies
    • Build sound external strategic networks and professional working relationships with all stakeholders, displaying excellent abilities to listen, advise, influence, negotiate and present at all levels
    • Find opportunities to leverage relationships and share knowledge, insights and lessons learnt
    • Read the cultural environment and adapt communication style to meet the needs of different audiences
    • Lead by example, create a owner/manager culture and ensure everyone is focused on the right priorities
    • Ensure the department / area is appropriately staffed and resourced

    • Work closely with the team to define their performance objectives, monitor their performance, provide ongoing feedback and grow their skills where needed
    • Act in ways consistent with RMB’s brand and values
    • Handle stress in ways that do not negatively impact others
    • Plan and manage own workflow, anticipating obstacles, juggling priorities and following through on objectives within agreed time-frames and according to quality standards
    • Act in an ethical, transparent and morally defensible manner, including highlighting unethical practices

    • Promote collaboration in working with others to achieve shared goals

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Matric; relevant degree / diploma advantageous
    • 5+ years’ management experience in a Corporate Actions / Custody environment
