Data Analyst at TransUnion

As a senior data analyst, you will work closely within the Data Science & Analytics (DSA) team to introduce operational efficiencies when working with large structured data sets across multiple internal and external platforms. You’ll bring your technical experience to design and develop robust data workflows to drive deeper insights from raw data and enable data science teams to accelerate the development and monitoring of machine learning models.

What You'll Bring

• Work closely with technology teams in South Africa, Rest of Africa and the US to define and enhance automated data workflows across multiple technology platforms to develop logical data layers and structures from highly complex raw data. These will be used across functional teams within DSA as a single source of truth for data scientists to develop machine learning models and controls, generate leads for client-side direct marketing campaigns, build insight reports and support research studies.
• Use various data visualisation techniques to present data in ways that is clear, easy to understand and inspires action.
• Work with the global DSA team to identify tools that will refine and enhance Africa’s cloud analytics strategy.
• Work with diverse stakeholders within the Product and Sales teams to design, develop and deploy analytical tools and interfaces that significantly reduce operational dependencies within DSA.

Requirements

• Honours or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, Informatics, engineering or similar field.
• At least seven (7) years of professional experience in working with large, complex structured databases within an analytics environment – preferably within Financial Services, Telecommunications, Insurance or related industries.
• Strong written a verbal communication skills: ability to clearly articulate ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences, strong presentation skills with comfort presenting to multiple levels within the organisation.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, and creative problem solving skills.
• Experience in using R Studio, SQL and Spark to manipulate large datasets on Hadoop clusters.
• Experience in working with cloud-based analytical environments advantageous.
• Ability to operate in a complex, dynamic, matrix environment.
• Strong project management skills with the ability to work on multiple assignments at one time.
