Job Description:

•  An exciting opportunity is available for a Data Scientist to join a dynamic and forward-thinking analytics team. This role focuses on driving the data science and analytics agenda to deliver substantial value across multiple business areas, including underwriting, claims, sales, and product development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and implement statistical analysis, forecasting, predictive modelling, simulation, and optimisation techniques to identify trends and opportunities.
• Evaluate new data sources and enhance data collection procedures to improve analytic capabilities.
• Build and communicate data-driven solutions using visualisation techniques.
• Design advanced analytics and machine learning models to address business challenges.
• Stay current with advancements in analytics technologies and methodologies.
• Act as a technical expert in machine learning tools, techniques, and programming languages.
• Mentor and coach junior team members.
• Present analytical findings and recommendations to stakeholders and management.
• Identify and prioritise business problems where analytics can drive measurable improvements.
• Collaborate across departments to gather requirements and ensure relevant data sources are used.
• Support the development and maintenance of analytic infrastructure including databases, BI tools, and modelling platforms.
• Migrate existing on-premise solutions to the cloud and ensure model stability and performance.
• Promote data-driven decision-making and build buy-in across the business.

Required Experience and Skills:

• 4–6 years of relevant experience in analytics or data science.
• Proficient in big data analytics, statistical modelling, and programming.
• Experience with machine learning models such as classification, regression, anomaly detection, and neural networks.
• Strong skills in Python, SQL Server, Power BI, Excel, PowerPoint; Azure experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of API integration in Python.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
• Strong project management and stakeholder engagement capabilities.

Educational Requirements:

• Matric certificate.
• Degree in Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, or Computer Science.
• Specialised qualification or degree in Data Science.
