Director - Internal Monitoring Reviewer at BDO South Africa

The primary purposed of this role performance of internal inspections of assurance engagements to ensure adequate compliance with the International Standards on Auditing and the firm’s internal audit methodology. This position is also responsible for supporting the Head of Internal Monitoring for reporting the firm’s leadership (CEO and EXCO) regarding such compliance with key audit efficiency and quality projects and will be involved in performing file reviews.

• Reporting to the National Head of Audit, the Internal Monitoring Reviewer will inter alia be responsible for;
• Managing a portfolio of internal assurance engagements as allocated by the Head of Internal Monitoring with focus on regular performance of inspections, reporting to assurance engagement partners and audit team members (as appropriate) on matters identified in compliance with the Internal Inspections Program (IIP). This includes planning and execution of audit review fieldwork and statutory reporting across a portfolio of clients.
• Building and maintaining strong relationships with audit team members
• Project management of all aspects of audit including agreeing to inspection timelines, team briefings, supervision and delivery of audit work.
• Assisting with deliverables to the partners and managers of the firm through discussions, presentation, reports, communications, etc.

Qualifications:

• CA(SA)

Experience and Knowledge:

• 10 years’ experience in performing reviews of audit files for compliance with International Standards for Auditing and IFRS 
• Knowledge of International Standards for Auditing, IFRS and technical matters relevant to your area of expertise.
