Director: Rural Economic Development & Planning at Sakhisizwe Local Municipality

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Grade 12

• Bachelor’s Degree in Building Sciences, Architecture, Town and Regional Planning or Development Studies or equivalent.
• Registration as a Professional Planner in accordance with the Planning Professions Act, 2002. ( Act No. 36 of 2002) is an added advantage.
• Certificate in Municipal Finance Management or a candidate will be afforded an opportunity to complete the certificate within an 18 months period after appointment.
• A minimum of 5 years working experience at middle management level preferable in Local Government and have a proven successful Professional
• Development / Town and Regional Planning experience.
• Valid Code B Drivers Licence.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS The incumbent will be accountable to the Municipal
Manager and will be responsible for the following:

• Drive and oversee the Directorate’s Budget inputs, implementation, monitoring and reporting.
• Lead tourism investment efforts, social andeconomic developments initiatives that promote economic growth, organisational development an institutional transformation.
• Developing, implementing and managing strategies and spatial plans, town planning and township establishment as well as housing matters.
• Leads and ensure that the Municipality has a credible IDP
• Oversee the housing, building control, Town
• Planning and Land Use Management functions.
• Co-ordinating and facilitating strategic planning of economic development process as well as management of LED initiatives for SMME’s tourism development, economic policy and research including investments and trade promotions.
• Oversee the development and review of relevant policies and strategies on matters related to the department.
