    Distribution Manager

    Job Description    

    • Coca-Cola Beverages Africa (CCBA) presents an exciting opportunity for a Distribution Manager, to join the Pretoria team at CCBA. The role will report to the Logistics Manager. 

    Key Purpose

    • To drive the successful execution of the distribution strategy by managing operational performance, resources, fleet utilisation, customer service, projects, and stakeholder relationships to achieve service, cost, quality, and safety objectives while ensuring sustainable operational excellence and business performance.

    Key Duties & Responsibilities    
    Key Outcome

    Strategy deployment and Budgeting

    • Provides feedback to facilitate the process of strategy development.
    • Execute the Distribution strategy and business plan based on diagnosis, analysis, insight, expertise and distribution principles.
    • Develop plans to optimise the operation by aligning resources to activity levels and meeting customer service needs.
    • Provide input to the distribution plan.
    • Manage the planning for key resource requirements by establishing availability and suitability.
    • Manage the headcounts and overtime carefully.
    • Manage expenditure against budget and forecast.
    • Manage the site crisis management report continuously and ensure adherence.

    Distribution and Project Management

    • Execution of the Distribution plan in order to ensure product delivery to customers on time and in full. 
    • Manage the delivery fleet size, age and ensure that the mix is calculated and verified. 
    • Manage the impact of fleet utilisation on routing, scheduling processes, systems and functions and ensure effective monitoring.
    • Implement the Fleet audit recommendations on non-conformances.
    • Manage the interpretation and implementation of the Depot distribution plan.
    • Map the Distribution goals and monthly targets.
    • Ensure that the Distribution targets (goals and KPI’s) are visibly displayed and communicated to all team members.
    • Manage the Strategic distribution projects from joint scoping to close-out.
    • Communicate the Project content and progress clearly to stakeholders.
    • Manage the completion of the allocated Projects within the allocated time frames.
    • Maintain adherence to Quality standards throughout project life cycle.

    Information Management and Customer service

    • Maintain the System integrity through accurate and updated information.
    • Manage the accurate completion of daily control reports and ensure monitoring.
    • Ensure that reports are analysed and interpreted daily.
    • Ensure the usage of key information to guide responsive management decisions. 
    • Leverage on information management systems, to monitor and maintain customer service standards.
    • Implement innovative and practical mechanisms to improve customer service.
    • Ensure that business knowledge and commercially based decision-making is applied effectively to maintain customer service.

    People and Stakeholder Management

    • Manage sales and operations to maintain alignment with KPIs and overall business strategy by engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
    • Proactively handle employee relations, optimize union relationships, and build effective partnerships with local government departments.
    • Develop a strong health and safety culture for all employees and contractors within the Distribution function.
    • Ensure an engaged, productive, and capable team that is aligned to deliver business objectives.

    Skills, Experience & Education    
    Education 

    • A minimum of a Degree in Supply Chain Management or equivalent
    • A Post Graduate degree in Business Administration, Logistics or Transport Qualification would be advantageous 

    Experience

    • 8 years’ experience in warehouse management with 3 years line management experience
    • Extensive experience in the deployment of operational excellence
    • Additional experience and/or exposure in sales, warehouse or manufacturing
    • Understanding of key business cost drivers
    • Knowledge of logistics operations in large FMCG organisations
    • Project management skills and experience

    Skills

    • Analyse the relationships between events. Demonstrate the understanding of the inter-relationships between systems and processes and consolidate information into a coherent whole.
    • Ability to apply planning skills to, schedule activities and prioritise resources in the achievement of an objective.
    • Apply rigorous logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions; probes all fruitful sources for answers.
