Driver Operator - Roads & Stormwater at Knysna Municipality

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:

• Schooling: Gr10 -   NQF 2
• Certificate of competency in the operation a motor grader of heavy Plant and equipment
• Valid Code 14 drivers’ license plus proficiency certificate for operating truck mounted equipment
• 3 years relevant experience   for heavy and light Grader
• A bility to work under pressure
• Must be willing to work in adverse weather conditions
• Be physically fit and able - bodied , be able to work at heights, lift and carry heavy objects (<50kg).
• Prepared to perform overtime and stan d by duties, including weekends   and public holidays   as well as over peak periods, as and when needed.
• Proficient in at least two of the three official languages of the Western Cape   (written and verbal)

 KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS:

• Ensure that instructions received and conditions on site is fully understood   and work procedures properly planned.
• Operation of construction vehicle and equipment, (Tipper Truck, Digger Loader, Water Truck and operate jet machine)
• Operate Vacuum tanker with jet machine (Combination Unit).
• Ensure that all factors on site are considered due to the concentration exercised during operation of the machine.
• Conduct pre - trip inspection.
• Dangerous & heavy equipment, be able to work at heights.
• Ensure that proper communication channels are followed to prevent costly delays
• Ensure that all requirements if the National   Occupational Health and Safety Act are met and applied in the execution of duties.
• Responsible for on - site occupational health and safety.
• Record Keeping of trips for the monthly report.
• Assist other teams with   Ad - Hoc requests.
