    e-LEARNING Co-ordinator

    Job description
    1.    Managing e-Learning Operations

    •          Management: Manage a team of 7 people. Ensure role clarification and task allocation to meet the needs of stakeholders. Decision making in terms of overall overseeing of division and stakeholders that the team interacts with.
    •          Team administration: Multimedia venue coordination and bookings, efficient team scheduling to allocate e-Learning’s resources accordingly, stationery and stock control, record management, meeting arrangements and management.
    •          Live Broadcast Sessions: Coordinating the support of lecturers during broadcasts at the UODL e-Learning section. Attending e-Learning meetings with NWU IT discusses the future of technology that works for students and lecturers. Ad-hoc Broadcast session dedicated technical staff at all NWU campuses and external learning support centres. Broadcast scheduling in terms of multimedia venue allocation.
    •          Maintenance & Management (Multimedia venues): Maintenance and upgrading of the multimedia rooms. Replacement of older equipment. Ensure that all multimedia rooms and equipment are in good working order.

    2.    Lecture Capture Management

    •          Manage and maintain the platform for lecture recordings (Panopto) accessed by both students and lecturers.
    •          Roll out of recording software to lecturers to ensure that no interruption in lectures being available to students.
    •          Individual users (lecturers) assisted with installation.

    3.    e-Learning Support

    •          Learner Support Centres (LSCs): Maintain & replace technical equipment at Study Centres. Technology Development and facilitator technical support. Track internet connectivity at the LSCs as well as troubleshoot technical issues in real-time.
    •          Student Support: Attend to queries relating to access issues to the Lecture Recording Platform. Attend to queries regarding the guidance on resources available on UOFL’s web page. Queries related to the broadcast software, downloading, installation and use of same.
    •          Lecturer Support: Troubleshoot issues being experienced regarding the use of the recording software on own device. Respond to queries regarding the locating & tracking of specific lecture recordings.
    •          UODL Programme & Division Support: Compilation and packing of information for students and lecturers for online circulation. Support UODL staff & management (online sessions).
    •          Training & Development: Content design and development of training material. Development & Training of lecturers on the use of e-Learning Technological solutions. Training interventions that support UODL divisions. Training of lecturers on other campuses. Training of external lecturers and overseas visitors (when required), on how to use the broadcast technology. Facilitating the need of Faculties to change distance programmes to an online environment. Developing Training aligned to the user needs. e-Fundi Integration training.

    4.    Development

    •          UODL Website Design & Development: Liaise with all relevant UODL operational divisions and programme faculties on the updating of content on the website. Design, layout and creation of web pages in line with UODL operational requirements. Development of online academic advisor videos.
    •          Projects: Initiate projects to improve e-Learning’s operational activities.

    5.    Stakeholder Relationship Management

    •          Collaboration with different stakeholders (faculties, programme leaders, management) as well as NWU Divisions.
    •          Liaison with CTL & UCE re-system development for UODL operational requirements.

    6.    Risk Management

    •          Quality Control: Good quality lecture recordings and accessibility.
    •          Asset Register: Tracking and maintaining of e-Learning’s technical equipment replaced at the division and LSCs.

    7.    Financial Management

    •          Effective use of financial resources and management of budget.

        
    Minimum requirements

    •          B Degree (NQF Level 7)
    •          1-3 Years Management skills

     
    KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    •          Office administration
    •          Academic administration
    •          Knowledge of NWU Programme and different IT programmes in open distance learning
    •          Cooperate effectively in a team

    KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

    •          Own initiative and creativity
    •          Conflict management
    •          Problem solving skills

    The annual total remuneration package will be commensurate with the level of appointment as advertised and in line with the NWU policy guidelines.
