    Employee Relations Specialist (Cape Town)

    The successful candidate will be responsible for:

    • Investigating, preparing and initiating all disciplinary and incapacity cases
    • Mediating grievances
    • Representing the Party at the CCMA
    • Ensuring HR policies are reviewed and updated, as required
    • Providing competent advice to management and staff regarding employee relations matters
    • Completing all employee relations administrative processes

    Prospective applicants must meet the following requirements:

    • National Senior Certificate or equivalent
    • Relevant tertiary qualification
    • 5 years of experience or exposure to the labour relations environment

    Extensive experience:

    • in investigating misconduct
    • in drafting investigation reports dealing with complex subject matter
    • in initiating disciplinary enquiries
    • in grievance mediation techniques and procedures
    • and knowledge of CCMA rules, processes and hearings

    Experience in

    • managing and/or supporting retrenchment processes
    • handling incapacity matters

    Experience in the preparation and submission of Employment Equity report(s)

    • Experience in training staff and line management on labour relations matters and policy, advantageous
    • In depth knowledge of South African Labour Relations Act, Basic Conditions of Employment Act, Employment Equity Act and any other relevant legislation.
    • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Zoom, Smartsheet or similar application)
    • Excellent report writing skills
    • Excellent administrative skills, organisational abilities, and meticulous attention to detail
    • Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders
    • Ability to process and understand complex and technical information
    • Ability to apply sound judgement
    • Ability to use initiative in high pressure situations
    • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to manage several tasks with competing levels of priority 
    • Commitment to the principles, policies, and programme of action of the Democratic Alliance
    • Ability to work effectively and energetically around a demanding work schedule, including working irregular hours on a frequent basis
    • Knowledge and understanding of the South African political landscape
    • Applicants must be in possession of a valid driver’s licence and have access to an insured vehicle for occasional use
