    Role Overview

    At its core ‘Vanilla Hub’ is the initial iteration of our new Platform based strategic Global FIX hub connecting Institutional and Private Wealth clients to various forms of liquidity be it Broker-Dealers, strategic third parties, venues and internal Iress trading stack such as Iress Xplan (CRM) and Iress IOS+ (sell-side OMS). Utilising Cloud, the FIX platform will provide multi-asset class messaging with a deeply integrated self-service web-based portal. Underpinning all of this is our philosophy of creating our clients with intuitive and fast on-boarding, providing a roadmap of innovative tools that sit on top of the FIX layer that creates organic revenue lines and a time to market experience that will rival the market leaders. ‘Vanilla hub’ will be in constant evolution as Iress pushes FIX and our innovative self-service modules to market, aggressively taking market share off of our competitors and pushing Iress into new territories.

    Working within the trading domain as part of a newly created team to support strategic initiatives, you will contribute to the application's design, development, delivery, and support by adhering to Iress’ software development life cycle and development process.  This is broadly a greenfield project, bringing together modern cloud and development technologies underpinned by Iress products to produce a market-changing proposition.

    Your objectives and responsibilities will focus on...

    • The design and development of software components within a defined quality standard 
    • Resolving issues, defects and queries raised at any phase of development or production
    • Following configuration management processes to deploy code
    • Conducting quality reviews of own deliverables
    • Contributing to sizing on technical development tasks 
    • Reporting on progress and effective issue resolution through escalation
    • Mentoring and coaching junior engineers
    • Supporting and maintaining the application you are building (DevOps) 

    You will have experience of working on projects through the life cycle of development and into production together with experience of developing within an object-orientated development environment. You will likely have experience of developing service-oriented architectures together with strong Agile methodology experience. You will have knowledge of source control, release management, task management and working within a team environment (including application lifecycle management)

    Technical Skills

    • JavaScript / TypeScript
    • C#
    • APIs (e.g. GraphQL, OpenAPI or SignalR)
    • MS SQL Server or other RDBMS
    • Unit testing frameworks (e.g. NUnit)
    • AWS 
    • Event-based systems
    • CICD tooling (e.g. teamcity, buildkite, azure devops etc)
    • Front end frameworks (e.g. angular, react or vue)

    Have a strong technical background, you will be analytical, logical with a proactive approach to problem solving. You will have strong personal accountability, self motivated and outcome driven who is able to draw support from the wider engineering community when required. You will be comfortable working under pressure in a dynamic, fast paced environment. You will be flexible and able to change your priorities aligned to the demands of the business and possess excellent all round communication skills.
