    Engineering Manager: Operation ( Electrical & Electronic)

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The Engineering Manager: Operations is responsible for the daily operations, maintenance and repairs with respect to the allocated functional area (Electrical) to ensure business continuity. This include the service of the in-house workshop as well as external contractors. The incumbent will achieve these responsibilities through:

    • Strategic and Operational Maintenance Management
    • Maintenance Engineering & Optimisation
    • Contract Management
    • Management of Planned Maintenance
    • Management of Demand (Breakdown) Maintenance
    • Statutory Compliance
    • Staff Management

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelor’s or B Tech Degree in the relevant engineering discipline
    • Registration with ECSA at any level
    • Valid Driver’s license
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the following areas: 
    • Maintenance and operations of relevant building system and infrastructure services in a property related environment. 
    • Writing technical maintenance specification for tenders
    • The interpretation of and review of drawings and plans 
    • Site inspections and evaluation of work to detect problems 
    • Accepting project handovers and compliance with OHS Act and SANS codes.
    • Health and Safety – implementation and supervision of health and safety requirements in the built environment.

    Relevant maintenance and operational experience in the following:

    • 11kV distribution systems
    • Electrical distribution systems
    • Building reticulation and systems
    • Stand-by generators
    • UPS’s
    • Access control
    • CCTV system
    • Fire detection 
    • Intruder alarms

    REQUIRED COMPETENCIES (SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND BEHAVIOURAL ATTRIBUTES):

    • An understanding of maintenance contracts 
    • Knowledge to understand the methods of investigating, analysing, compiling, organising information and presenting it in an easily understandable manner to customers and/or role players
    • Computer skills (MS Office and especially in Excel)
    • Administrative skills 
    • Accounting and budget control
    • Communication skills e (written and verbal)
    • Analytical thinking
    • Problem solving skills
    • Organising skills
    • Negotiating skills
    • The ability to identify and solve high priority problems in crisis situation
    • Have the ability to lead and make decision
    • Team player
    • Conflict-handling ability
