Engineering Technician (REF NO: IS-S-ET1) at Drakenstein Municipality

JOB PURPOSE:

• Applies technical engineering procedures and applications of the Municipality associated with the provision of information and drafting specifications and technical designs of civil infrastructure (roads, sewer and water system, etc) at a medium complexity level, evaluating of land use planning and development, building plans, civil engineering plans, festival, tent, wayleave, boreholes and rates clearance applications and supervising subordinate personnel ensuring through creative and specialized applications the establishment of accurate specifications and standards to support project planning, discussions and decision-making processes in compliance with laid down standards, policies, legislation, systems and controls.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE POST:

• National Diploma in Civil Engineering or equivalent

OTHER REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

• Code B Driver’s License
• Computer literacy (MS Office Applications)
• Proficiency in at least 2 of the official languages of the Western Cape
• Good supervision, Human relations, interpersonal and communication skills
• ability to give attention to detail
• High level of responsibility
• Ability to work under pressure
• Ability to handle conflict
