    Executive: Chief of Staff, Group President and CEO’s Office

    Mission/Core purpose of the Job
    Key responsibilities of the role include:

    • The role is responsible for the effective functioning of the Group President and CEO office and interactions with Group Exco, Group Board and external stakeholders engaging directly with the office.
    • Partner with Group Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer on strategic planning and execution priorities that the Group CEO chairs and provides oversight over.
    • Ensure key strategic and operational matters arising from Group Exco and Group Board get actioned and resolved timeously.
    • Lead and draft the Group CEO presentations and communication and needs to be excellent communicator.
    • Collaborate with all the Group Exco and Group Executives as needed and in line with Group CEO responsibilities.
    • Support the Group Chairman from time to time on strategic programs and priorities that both Group Chairman and Group CEO agree to for the calendar year, including nation-state visits, stakeholder engagements aligned to the corporate strategy.

    The role reports to the Group President and CEO

    • As part the Group President and CEO office, the role is responsible for managing the group priorities and programmes for the Group Board and President and Group CEO.
    • Strategic management and though leadership
    • Lead strategic programs, complex challenges and cascade plans to deliver against strategic imperatives as requested by the GCEO.
    • Serve as a thought partner and strategic advisor to Group President and CEO, standing in on meetings, challenging ideas and offering a different perspective and following up on action items with the Group Executives accordingly.
    • Support the Group Strategy and Transformation Officer, involved in strategy development and monitoring of transformation programs key to the execution of Ambition 2025.
    • Research, benchmark, Analyse data, provide insights and recommendations to the Group CEO on strategic high impact priority programmes.
    • Lead cross-functional Group wide strategic initiatives, facilitate special projects, and ensure action items are executed on behalf of the Group CEO.
    • Track strategic and high priority initiatives for the Group CEO and identify any/potential risks

    Operational and programme management

    • Build and lead the daily operations of the CEO’s office.
    • Facilitate cadence for leadership meetings, board meetings, leadership offsites and all engagements for the Office of the Group CEO, working with the Company Secretary..
    • Manage the Group CEO’s time: working with the Executive Assistant, looking at long term travel calendar, evaluating opportunities and determining fit with strategic priorities.
    • Assess all enquiries directed to the Group CEO, determine priorities, and identify the proper course of action for resolution.
    • Triage all incoming requests for the Group CEO’s time and work collaboratively with the Executive Assistant to ensure the Group CEO’s calendar is aligned with the strategic priorities of the organization.
    • Monitoring information flow: Sometimes acting as a gatekeeper, ensuring the Group CEO’s involvement or decision-making process is structured and timeous.

    Stakeholder Management and Communication

    • Collaborate and maintain cross-departmental relationships to enable leadership success
    • Streamline decision making by engaging with multiple stakeholders
    • Act as an extension of the Group CEO, funnel information and engage internal and external stakeholders on behalf of the Group CEO, as required.
    • Manage key relationships and build a process to track and nurture relationships with key local and international stakeholders, investors, and clients, working closely with the Stakeholder Relations team within the Group..
    • Draft all internal Group wide correspondence including reports, pitch decks, speeches or presentations as required by the Group CEO.
    • Review and prepare responses for all external communications as required.

    Reporting and Budgeting

    • Report on a monthly / periodic basis as required, to the relevant stakeholders relating to progress, in accordance with the measurement metrics set by the Group.
    • Provide adhoc reports, dashboards and presentations to EXCO, as and when required.
    • Focus on internal capability building in new emerging trends of reporting and analytics.
    • Consolidate and submit reports for governance structures.
    • Support implementation of automation opportunities of the reporting process.

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Minimum of a 4 year tertiary Bachelor’s degree in Commerce/Finance/Science/Engineering and equivalent Post graduate degree. (preferred)
    • Master’s degree/ Chartered Accountant (advantageous)
    • Qualification’s certifications in Accounting, Business Management, Statistics, Engineering
    • Fluent in English (fluency in other international languages will be advantageous)

    Experience:

    • Minimum 12-15 years of post-qualification experience in the telecommunications, technology or financial services
    • Minimum 15 years of relevant working senior managerial experience
    • Understanding emerging markets advantageous
    • Pan Africa multi-cultural experience
    • Flexibility to travel within Africa
    • Experience in leading large-scale change / transformation programs
