    Farm Maintenance Coordinator (P003291) (Re-advert)

    Job description

    PURPOSE OF THE POSITION

    • Position will be responsible for the daily operations in regard to maintenance, landscaping, managing of game and customer liaisons.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Maintenance Facilities

    • Inspection of various buildings and facilities to identify maintenance work daily.
    • Liaise with contractors regarding WO including supervising and signing off job cards.
    • Identifying of issues that may be a risk and report it to management.
    • Ensuring daily that sewerage plants are operational and functioning properly.

    Maintenance of land

    • Supervising ground maintenance in respect to contractor appointed to do the maintenance on land.
    • Overseeing the upkeep and neatness of grounds.
    • Responsible for maintaining a watering schedule for the rugby field and gardens.
    • Planning of scheduled pre-winter maintenance on rugby field and grass areas.
    • Responsible for ensuring that irrigation pumps are in good working order and regular services.
    • Ensure that water tanks are filled and maintained.
    • Ensuring that facility grounds are neat and well maintained.

    Liaison

    • Responsible for liaising with clients during game drives and events.
    • Liaising with contractors and service providers to ensure a good working relationship.

    Maintenance of vehicles and equipment

    • Responsible for the neatness and organized storing of equipment and stock in the storing facilities.
    • Responsible for weekly inspections of vehicles regarding wheel pressure, oil, water, and cleanliness.
    • Responsible for identifying major issues on vehicles that need to be addressed by management.
    • Responsible for the weekly cleaning and servicing of equipment which includes but is not limited to lawn mowers, bush cutter, chainsaws and other electrical equipment.
    • Responsible for identifying major issues regarding equipment that needs to be addressed by management.
    • Responsible for the proper storing of fuel and flammable liquids.
    • Responsible of issuing petrol and diesel for daily operations and record of issued fuel.
    • Ensuring that all OHS regulations are followed.
    • Ensuring that staff have all the necessary training in handling equipment, arrange with management for training if needed.

    Management of game

    • Responsible for conducting game drives with clients.
    • Liaison with guests on game drives.
    • Must have extensive knowledge of the game, plant and geographical history of the area.
    • Responsible for maintaining and upkeep of the water holes.
    • Responsible for maintaining all the roads on the property.
    • Ensuring that game fences are regularly checked and repaired if needed.
    • Monthly counting and checking of game on the property.
    • Responsible for feeding of game as directed by management.
    • Responsible for general maintenance and neatness of farmland.
    • Responsible for assisting management in preventing and fighting bush fires.
    • Ensuring that the Space Research facility grounds are neat and well maintained, and necessary fire breaks are done around telescopes.

    Occupational Health and Safety (OHS)

    • Ensuring that all OHS regulations are followed and adhere to.
    • Responsible for identifying OHS training that needs to be attended and making sure staff certificates are valid.

    KEY FUNCTIONAL/ TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:

    • Good Time management skills
    • Computer literate
    • Good verbal communication
    • Good driving skills
    • Knowledge of OHS regulations regarding handling of mechanical equipment

    KEY BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES:

    • The ability to manage staff and their work ethics.
    • Good interpersonal relations.
    • Self-motivation and sound judgement.
    • The ability to do physical work.

    Minimum requirements

    • Grade 12 (NQF Level 4).
    • A valid driver’s license.
    • A Professional Driving Permit (PDP)
    • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in farm maintenance.
    • A minimum of two (2) years’ experience in game, farming and capturing.
