The Role
We are looking for a reconciliations manager to oversee the reconciliations for the mobile network operator business on a contract basis, whilst the current reconciliations manager is on maternity leave. The initial contract period would be four to five months (depending on the start date), with a possible extension. The reconciliation team operates as part of the Credit Management function within the Finance team. This position is location agnostic, with the current team based in the UK, Kenya, Uganda, Ghana, Mauritius and South Africa. The reconciliations manager will work closely with various stakeholders, including technology, business and support and involves managing a team of reconciliation team leaders and analysts.
The duties and responsibilities of the role will be as follows:
Driving improvement in process and technology within the reconciliation function as we evolve our team and business
Managing a team of reconciliation team leaders, providing guidance and direction to ensure the team works cohesively, process works optimally, and reconciliations are performed accurately and timeously
Managing relationships with key stakeholders to ensure all business objectives are met
Ensuring reconciliations are performed across multiple sources of information, on a transactional basis as well as for wallets
Ensuring discrepancies are investigated, analyzed, raised with the relevant stakeholder and resolved timeously
Initial reconciliation checks to be performed on a T+1 basis daily
Ensuring tracking and reporting on key performance metrics is performed optimally
Supporting and guiding the company values as well as overarching team and company strategy
Requirements
Key skills
Hands-on management skills as well as stakeholder relationship management skills are required
Ability to multi-task and deliver under pressure
Well organized with a proactive approach to problem solving
Self-driven individual with a high degree of resilience
Results oriented; Team oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Email, PowerPoint)
Highly numerate and detail oriented
Strong critical thinking, research, and analytical abilities
Adaptable, flexible, and comfortable working in an environment that is constantly evolving
Ability to take accountability, provide leadership and drive things forward
Qualifications and experience
At least 5 years of big data reconciliation experience, including time spent in a finance role
Prior management experience required
Knowledge of book-keeping practices
Expert ability in Excel and PowerPoint. Additional technical skills highly advantageous
Graduate Degree in Accounting or related field preferred
Experience working remotely and in a globally dispersed team preferred
Pan-African exposure preferred
