Financial Manager - Technical Specialist at Flash Group

Responsibilities:

• Prepare monthly tax calculations for Flash Group
• Preparing monthly VAT recon for Flash Group
• Assisting with VAT submission for UK
• Managing all SARS queries for the Group
• Managing all tax returns, provisional tax, and SARS audit
• Prepare quarterly base tax reporting with Pepkor
• Perform new and existing product VAT assessment
• Managing Intergroup loan accounts and recovery charges for TP for Flash as a reporting Group
• Managing TP policy and Masterfile
• Managing yearly CFC submission
• Reviewing all GL accounts and preparing relevant tax schedule
• Preparing UK Group quarterly reporting
• Dealing with international tax and VAT queries
• Dealing with customs tax
• Dealing with dividend tax 
• Management of tax receivables and liabilities
• Reviewing accounting processes and policies to improve efficiency using automation.
• Ensure adequate supporting documentary evidence is maintained for compliance purposes.
• Identify and implement opportunities for process improvement in company tax procedures.
• Identification of potential risk areas and provide solutions to mitigate potential risk areas.
• Develop and implement strategic tax-related for all necessary SARS taxes/returns.
• Updates with all the relevant tax-related regulations and legislative changes or trends within the financial services and FinTech industry
• Effectively manage relationships with the Pepkor tax team and SARS
• Attend to tax-related questions from the business and understand highly complex tax-related problems
• Prepare clear, sound, accurate reports containing findings, conclusions, and recommendations to the management, legal/compliance, and operational areas regarding new legislative and tax reporting requirements
• Prepare/review the business control environment to ensure that sufficient and effective controls are in place to detect discrepancies and deviations from agreed processes and legislative requirements.
• Continuously advise and provide training to internal stakeholders to ensure optimal tax awareness and competence with regard to new and existing tax legislation
• Assisting with ad hoc tasks required by the Financial Manager, analysis of general ledger accounts, internal & external audits, etc.

Minimum Requirements

• Qualified CA (SA)
• Minimum 5+ years of experience in financial management with a focus on technical aspects
• Minimum 2 years post-article experience as a tax accountant
• Additional tax qualifications will be beneficial
• Strong background in managing financial systems, including VAT, TAX, and IFRS compliance
• Good business acumen
• Knowledge of corporate governance
