    General Sales Manager - Hyundai Sandton

    Position Overview    

    • The General Sales Manager (GSM) is responsible for overseeing the entire vehicle sales operation of a dealership. This includes managing new and used vehicle sales departments, leading a team of sales professionals, ensuring high customer satisfaction, and driving profitability. The GSM sets sales targets, develops sales strategies, and ensures compliance with manufacturer programs and dealership standards.

    Specific Role Responsibilities    
    OBJECTIVES AND KEY TASKS

    • Develop and implement effective sales strategies for new and used vehicles.
    • Set monthly and annual sales goals and monitor team performance to achieve targets.
    • Manage, train, and motivate a team of sales managers, sales executives, finance & insurance (F&I) staff, and support staff.
    • Maintain strong relationships with vehicle manufacturers, wholesalers, and key customers.
    • Ensure optimal stock levels, inventory turnover, and efficient vehicle ordering.
    • Work closely with the F&I department to ensure profitability and compliance with lending guidelines.
    • Analyze market trends and customer feedback to refine sales approaches.
    • Conduct regular performance reviews, training sessions, and team meetings.
    • Oversee the pricing strategy and promotional campaigns in line with market conditions and manufacturer incentives.
    • Ensure all regulatory and compliance standards are met.
    • Collaborate with service and parts departments to ensure a seamless customer experience.
    • Handle high-level customer complaints and escalate when necessary.

    Qualifications and Experience    

    EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING

    • Minimum of 5–7 years of automotive sales experience, with at least 2–3 years in a sales management role.
    • Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
    • Deep understanding of dealership operations, vehicle finance, and manufacturer programs.
    • Experience with DMS (Dealer Management Systems), CRM tools, and manufacturer reporting portals.
