INDUSTRIALIZED PRODUCTS/ PLATFORMS/ PROCESS - Ensures timeliness and adherence to product design, Platform design, release and performance requirements of Central R&D, manufacturing and factory. Monitors and initiates corrective actions required to maintain tire performance and plant target levels which exceed the established requirements. Reviews weekly SOP with R&D, Launch Management, Global Tire Sourcing and Plant operations in order to ensure timely availability of tire specifications.
COSTS SUPPORT - Initiates Value Leadership measures to reduce the direct material, process costs of tyre etc, implement measures to improve efficiency within plant. Active participation in article cost budget preparations and allocations.
SYSTEMS AND PROJECTS - User of the various systems. CTD tool - ensure that spec meets CTDL and apply for RN should change be required to CTDL or specification. Industrializes new and existing products, processes and materials into production which are optimized for process capabilities, cost, minimize rework and comply with the established Release Notice Procedure, Cured Tire Dimensions, and QMD Standard Introduce new build methods and techniques and manage projects related to PLT tyre construction. Implement actions to improve the aesthetics of tyres and remove outside tyre paint.
MANAGEMENT - Lead and manage the department respective management portfolios to ensure successful execution of organisational strategy and support. Develop and lead the team of tyre engineers, curing engineer & PI tech that will develop and execute new concepts. Plan, organize, review and evaluate work performance, training & development of staff relating to HRD process requirements.
REPORTS - Ensures Experimental Tire Order (ETO) reports and business plans are issued and initiated for the development and industrialization of all new and experimental materials, products and processes. Initiates VL measures and monitors monthly performance against budget. Establish ETO/SOP plan for year. Initiates mini prompts and report on Problem solving - technical issues.
ADVICE AND SUPORT - Provide service to Production on constructional / tyre engineering issues (Problem solving). Attend various meetings with central and plant as well as offer technical support. Assist with writing SOPs and with audits. Support and direct tyre engineers in optimizing constructions and improving performance.
ETO PROCEDURE - Liaise with development engineer R&D on need basis. Support to order if necessary. Schedule ETO builds / die manufacturing / set ETO Priorities. Oversee sectional cuts & co-ordinate final finish activities - over inspection, selection, warehousing, CTD measurements / Arrange for shipment.
RELEASE NOTIFICATIONS- Manage RNs from initial spec development, then into limited and series production within timeframe. Authorise release of specs as well as maintenance of specs to the plant. Monitoring scrap, rework, weight, yield and initiate activities to optimize reviewing tire constructions.
Your profile
Relevant tertiary qualification
At least 5 years in tyre manufacturing environment with sound product and R&D knowledge.
Experience in IE, Quality, Production or Process Engineering is advantageous.
Experience managing subordinates.
Completed a large project within an engineering environment with a minimum of 1 to 2 years project management experience.
