    Group Mineral Reserve Mining Engineer

    Purpose of Role

    • To oversee long-term and annual life of mine planning procedures in order to achieve the deadlines for Mineral Reserve Estimations for the Tharisa PLC operations and associated projects as required by the JSE to be reported in the Integrated Annual Report (IAR).

    Context of Role

    • Provide input to strategic plans of the section by guiding and monitoring the annual Resource and Reserve planning cycle to ensure the Department is an enabler of the overall business strategy of the organisation.
    • Keep abreast of changes in relevant guidelines and other legislation, to make recommendations where policies, processes and/or procedures require amendment.
    • Maintain statutory and internal reporting as required, ensuring all required Mineral Reserve Statements and Competent Person’s Reports are completed and distributed on time and comply with relevant reporting codes and standards (e.g., SAMREC), including applicable legal requirements.
    • Optimise and continuously improve the overall planning cycle and ensure each component of the planning cycle is executed in such a way that interfaces are managed and that it fully supports operational requirements. Update the Resource Reserve statement to provide a current illustration of the minerals of interest within the orebody, and the quantities in which they are present.
    • Provide professional inputs into OPCO and board presentations and other documentation.
    • Communicate with all relevant Departments on issues of the area of speciality. Liaise across the relevant Departments by engaging with the appropriate stakeholders to ensure all stakeholders remain abreast of Departmental objectives, any potential derailers are appropriately managed and duplication of work is avoided.
    • Analyse all relevant Department data and report on Departmental trends and operating requirements to determine funding requirements for the financial year.
    • Comply with all financial, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and other Tharisa Minerals regulations and policies by facilitating the right actions, to reduce financial risk in the Department.

    Job Requirements
    Qualifications

    • B-Tech/B.Sc./B.Eng. Degree (NQF7) in Mining
    • Msc.Eng. / Magister MRM Degree (NQF9) is advantageous
    • Member of professional body (ECSA / MSAIMM)
    • Competent Person for SAMREC / JORC or Qualified Person for NI 43-101

    Job Specific experience

    • A minimum of between eight to ten (8-10) years’ experience as a Long and Medium Term Mine Planning Engineer, including experience in in open pit mining and the technical services environment.
    • Specialist software knowledge and application skill (both mine design and scheduling) is considered essential.
