Job description

• Ensure that all building maintenance is carried out in a professional manner
• Respond to clients’ maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
• Complete general maintenance work, within the scope of ability for a Handyman
• Move deliveries and equipment
• Clean general interior other exterior surfaces
• Diagnosing faults, testing, repair and maintenance of building fixtures and fittings
• Maintenance within the following disciplines:
• General carpentry
• Tiling (both floor & carpet tiles)
• Painting
• Basic electrical maintenance
• General air con diagnosis and repair
• Immediately report problems/failures that may impact on the organisation and/or its clients/customers to the Line Manager
• Supervising contractors where necessary and ensuring that work executed is of high levels of quality
• QA to be signed off by superior
• Identifying hazards to ensure compliance in line with the OHS
• Assisting with the setup of events where applicable
• General landscaping knowledge and irrigation repairs
• Light installation & maintenance of lighting infrastructure
• Repairs to ad hoc office equipment
• Conduct daily proactive checks and remediate where necessary
• Relocation of hardware (furniture, etc.)
• Maintaining the correct levels of tidiness in all storage areas whilst ensuring that all assets are safely stored and accounted for
• Accountability for all tools including an updated inventory list
• Perform ad hoc related duties when assigned

Minimum requirements

• Matric
• 3-4 years relevant experience
• Knowledge of general handyman responsibilities
• Knowledge of tools, equipment, and materials common to the environment
• Certification in formal training for maintenance will be advantageous
• Ability to work unsupervised
• Ability to work with a multitude of both hand & power tools
• Understanding the requirements of OHS in the workplace
• Ability to self-diagnose faults and remediate where necessary
• Display effective and appropriate English communication skills (written and verbal)
