    Head of Department (Business Development Unit ) - Centurion

    Description

    • The Business Development Unit Head, responsible for overseeing the implementation of business development strategies to improve the company portfolio of revenue streams. Main goal is to identify opportunities for business growth and create expansion strategies based on those opportunities in order to meet and exceed revenue goals.

    Requirements

    Required Minimum Qualifications and Experience 

    • A tertiary -level qualification in a health and /or business-related specialty.
    • A Masters - level Degree in a related field such as, Health, International Development or a related technical discipline relevant to the organisation's programmes.
    • A minimum of 8 years related working experience, preferably in a grant funding and related environment
    • Twelve (12) years of experience in successful fundraising and proposal development, including pre -solicitation preparation.
    • A proven track record of securing grants from foundations, funding agencies, governments and private sector.

    KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS 

    Business Development

    • Research and identify new business opportunities - including new markets, growth areas, partnerships in line with the growth strategies of the organisation.
    • Think strategically - seeing the bigger picture and setting aims and objectives in order to develop and improve the business.
    • Manage the pitch/proposal-development process from start to finish.
    • Develop, tailor and deliver content for RFPs/pitches and client presentations.
    • Seek ways of improving the way the business operates and direction it needs to take to grow the portfolio of services/programmes.

    Stakeholder Management

    • Identify new and follow up business opportunities for the organisation.
    • Have a good understanding of the organisation’s services and be able to advise others about them.
    • Foster and develop relationships with potential funders and collaboration with other organisations.
    • Ensure key management are on board throughout the organisation and understand the need for change and what is required of them.

    Financial Management

    • Working with executives to implement expansion strategies and new opportunities.
    • Encouraging new and existing clients by creating and improving proposals
    • Ensuring that the company meets revenue targets through new business addition.

    Reporting

    • Clearly communicate the progress of monthly/quarterly objectives to internal stakeholders; identify areas of concern and assist in generating solutions.
    • Identify or create client /prospective development tools for communication with customers/clients face to face or over the phone to constantly seek new funding or business opportunities.

    Training and Development

    • Train members of your team, arranging external training where appropriate.
    • Attend seminars, conferences and events where appropriate.
    • Keep abreast of trends and changes in the funding and business world.
