What you’ll be doing

Monthly processes & reporting

• Prepare monthly management accounts in accordance with the IFRS accounting manual
• Scrutinise actual line items for prepayments and capital items and reallocated costs to the correct Balance Sheet accounts.
• Prepare journals to ensure correct cost allocation between GL accounts and cost centres.
• Evaluate completeness of monthly costs and create provisions that were necessary.
• Prepare detailed cost centre information to enable cost centre owners in preparing and managing their costs/budgets.
• Prepare monthly analysis of cost centres to identify areas of concern to be addressed by cost centre owners.
• Provide guidance to cost centre owners on financial decisions including scenario analysis to inform business decisions.
• Prepare monthly cost reporting and results.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations/schedules for GL accounts as necessary
• Tracking of financial and operating results against KPIs to be reported to cost centre owners.
• Provide continuous training to cost centre owners in terms of cost awareness, optimization and cost reports.
• Participate in cross-functional collaboration and teamwork.

Budgeting & cost management

• Analyse cost & volume variances compared to budget or forecast and ensure variances are reconciled and explained.
• Ensure that accurate cash flow forecasts are presented within agreed deadlines.
• Prepare and analyse financial information received for budgets and forecasts.
• Ensure accurate budget and forecasting is delivered and aligned to guidelines and targets.
• Present and confirm accuracy and completeness of financial data to cost centre owners.
• Perform variance analysis against budget, prior year and forecast.
• Give guidance to cost centre owners in terms of budget and forecast trends and requirements.
• Support finance team in preparing for budget presentations and Exco presentations.

Requirements

• Finance related Diploma or Studying towards Financial qualification
• 2+ years' experience in Management Accounting
• Advanced Excel skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Ability to work and keep up in a fast-paced, changing business environment
• Strong general financial background with proven skills in financial accounting, budgeting and reporting. Experience in a start-up environment is a definite advantage.
• Ability to prioritize and meet tight deadlines
• Authorization to work in South Africa
