We are currently on the lookout for a talented Tax Lead to work at our regional offices in Rosebank in Johannesburg on a Monday – Friday working roster. Please note that this on a Fixed term contract of 18 months.
The primary purpose of Lead - Tax Lead will be to ensure compliance with relevant tax laws and Orica policies and procedures in the different regions in respect of both direct and indirect tax.
Additionally, the Africa – Tax Lead will prepare regional tax effect accounting documentation and assist in preparation of global tax effect accounting documentation.

What you will be doing
Ensuring and driving regional compliance to Orica’s Tax Standard, Tax Procedures and Tax Guidelines;
Preparing regional tax effect accounting and assisting with global tax effect accounting.
Direct and indirect tax return preparation and lodgement including fringe benefits tax and controlled foreign corporation returns;
Implementing and monitoring effective tax risk management strategies for the region;
Supporting regional tax risk reviews and audits by the relevant revenue authorities.
Address historical legacy and future documentation gaps by strengthening Accounts Payable capabilities to ensure VAT and customs compliant documentation are retained by the design, implementation and monitoring of documentation controls in the region
What you will bring
University degree with a focus on tax law and completed commercial training in the appropriate field of study;
Strong knowledge of corporate tax, transfer pricing, tax treaties, income source rules and VAT principles;
Clear proven experience in the planning implementation and monitoring of controls over tax compliance.
3 - 5 years of professional experience in the tax department of a large company, tax or financial management;
Experience in international tax law;
Experience in dealing with tax issues for multiple countries;
Knowledge of SAP and Hyperion will be advantageous, but not essential.
