    Quantitative Risk Analyst

    What will you do?

    Report and monitor daily risk across a combination of business units. This includes but is not limited to:

    • Market Risk
    • Build valuation and sensitivity models from first principles
    • Assist with quantitative modelling / projects etc
    • Assist with the production of management reports (fortnightly, monthly, and quarterly).
    • Error and exception monitoring and follow-up.
    • Follow up on limit breaches and obtain explanations from the front office teams.
    • Credit Risk
    • Liquidity Risk
    • Funding Risk

    Qualification and Experience

    • BSc or BSc (Hons) in Mathematical / Statistical / Financial Maths / Financial Risk Management (FRM) / Business Mathematics / Quantitative Risk Management (QRM) / M Phil, or a similar qualification. This needs to include subjects which are technical / mathematical as well as its application to financial markets and concepts.
    • Python coding skills and Murex knowledge will be advantageous.
    • 2 - 4 years’ experience in a similar role

    Senior Research and Investment Analyst

    Job purpose 

    The Senior Research and Investment Analyst will perform in-depth and quality investment research, with a particular focus on investment solutions. This includes but is not limited to manager research, formulating and implementing solutions that will fit a particular client need, a high standard of client service delivery, sales support, and presentations both to financial intermediaries, media and the Glacier Sales and Distribution team. It is a cross-functional investment specialist position with various investment and product set capabilities within Glacier across a wide variety of stakeholders. These stakeholders include Sanlam Retail Affluent (SRA), Sanlam Investments, financial intermediaries, direct clients, and the general media. This role will also specifically involve assisting the Head of Solutions.

    Business Manager: SanlamConnect East Coast: Pietermaritzburg

    What will you do?

    This is a management role within the regional (geographical) SanlamConnect structure reporting to the Regional General Manager. The role has a strong tactical focus with some strategic contribution.  This role forms part of and contributes to the Regional Exco.  The role is primarily responsible to drive sales and grow market share in the region through intermediary teams managed by Sales Consultants, Sales Managers and Development Managers. You will be responsible for the Pietermaritzburg area (which extends to Newcastle, Vryheid, Ladysmith & surrounding areas in the KZN Midlands).

    Output/Core Tasks:

    •  Legal/Actuarial/Commercial/Financial or Business-related Diploma/Degree 
    •  Wealth Management /RFP3 or equivalent (i.e.: 120 credits)
    •  Post Graduate Diploma in Financial Planning /CFP – Preferable

    Financial Adviser: Witbank / Middelburg

    What will you do?
    The purpose of the role is to provide new and existing clients with professional and relevant financial advice, planning and products (sales) that are suited to their needs and requirements. Undertake the procurement of sustainable business of a high quality, in accordance with the business targets set. Maintain and service these clients as part of a long- term relationship which builds loyalty to the brand and generates ongoing advice and sales. Undertake these activities within a compliant and ethical manner which results in the building and sustaining the Sanlam Group business and brand.

    • Apply financial knowledge in putting together a plan that meets the needs of the client for a balanced portfolio.
    • Present financial solutions to the client in a professional and competent manner aligned to Treating Customers Fairly.
    • Use relevant processes and system tools to capture analysis information and update records accordingly.
    • Review client’s portfolio annually by undertaking the above steps.

    Client Service

    Ensure all client interactions are ethical, courteous and professional.

    • Follow-up or refer all existing business queries to be resolved timeously through ‘back-office’ support.
    • Strive for excellent, value-added service to clients so that they do not seek competitor products or services.
    • Undertake continuous learning in terms of knowledge, skills and market/industry issues so as to service clients within the defined market.
    • Initiate long term client relationships and maintain a relational focus.
    • 5. Monitor, update and reporting (weekly/monthly)

    Document and present the following activities:

    • Number and profile of contacts, appointments, consultations.

    Qualification and Experience

    • Grade 12
    • Financial Advisory and Intermediary Services Act (FAIS) "Fit and Proper" requirements and Regulatory Examination successfully completed if registered with Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA) for more than 24 months.
