    Legal Assistant Manager - In-House Legal group, CBS

    The opportunity

    You will be exposed to different laws and regulations, as this role supports the whole of Africa. You will get an opportunity to engage with leadership at C-suite level as well get to be the heart of the business (business Advisor).

    Your key responsibilities

    You are likely to spend most of your time building relationships with our colleagues from different departments, developing a keen understanding of their unique strengths and requirements. It is all about providing the legal knowledge they need to execute strategies and resolve complex issues. And since all our clients’ needs are diverse, you will find yourself working on a diverse range of tasks.

    You will

    • Ensure legal compliance of EY’s activities and protecting its legal interests
    • Carry out legislative tracking as applicable to EY
    • Prepare responses to enquires of the EY Sub-area, Area and Global head offices at the request of EY’s Management
    • Ensure proper registration and maintenance of contracts (either in hard copy or in electronic format as required by the local regulations, policies and procedures of the Company and General Counsel Officer)

    Skills and attributes for success

    • Strong analytical skills
    • Good communicator who displays both technical knowledge and business understanding
    • Pro-active approach to project management and good report writing skills
    • Ability to drive business development and contribute to the growth of the EY market solutions
       

    To qualify for the role you must have

    • Civil, labor, financial, administrative, commercial and insurance law
    • Laws and regulations on audit and other professional services
    • Procedures for systemizing, recording and maintaining legal documents using advanced information technologies
    • Procedures for signing and executing business contracts and employment agreements

    .Ideally, you will also have

    • Minimum Bachelor of Laws degree (MUST be an Admitted Attorney)
    • Solid commercial drafting, reviewing and negotiating skills
    • Business acumen - Experience within a similar industry sector and/or financial service
    • Strong organisational and project management skills
    • Well-rounded corporate and commercial experience
    • Experience in an auditing firm and with compliance and company secretarial matters will be an advantage
