    Legal Claims Assistant Manager

    • We are looking for a motivated self-starter for the new Legal claims division for Debtbusters Legal. Debtbusters Legal will provide personal lines legal insurance policies to its customers.

    The incumbent will be responsible for the creation and management of the new Legal claims division which will include:

    • Recruiting the new legal claims team members
    • Designing processes and procedures for the division
    • Design and maintenance of systems
    • Manage, motivate and measure the performance of the team and members of the team
    • Prescribe and apply appropriate internal controls and internal financial controls
    • Select and manage a panel of external attorneys to represent Debtbusters Legal
    • Manage the claims process within agreed upon Key Measurement factors
    • Prepare the budget for the division and manage performance against the budget , Key measurement factors and ratios
    • Work closely with the Executives and Management in the IDM Group
    • Prepare monthly reports and report on the operations and performance of the division
    • Ensure that performance of the division attains the desired customer satisfaction levels

    Ensure that regulatory and statutory obligations are adhered to

    • The successful candidate will join an environment where the status quo is always challenged, and client satisfaction is paramount. This role will include, amongst other responsibilities, the oversight of a team providing legal advice and services to policyholders. The role will provide the opportunity to grow and develop the candidate’s leadership skills whilst encouraging innovative and transformational leadership practices. The candidate will be intricately involved in systems implementation and design, process development and team selection, motivation and measurement.
    • The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and consultants to ensure that every policy is treated with the utmost care and diligence in line with internal and external standards including statutory and legislative requirements. The successful candidate will work with our teams in improving systems and managing our legal product insurance claims whilst growing employees of IDM protect.

    Key responsibilities:

    • Create an environment nurturing talent and skills
    • Work with their team to achieve business goals and targets in line with appraisal metrics
    • Work closely with senior management in the day-to-day operations of their team
    • Innovate and challenge the status quo, daily, to improve work processes and systems
    • Manage and measure Risk within the division
    • Train their team and nurture growth and talent
    • Complete remuneration, manage overtime, create incentive structures, manage attendance and on-boarding and off-boarding requirements
    • Promote an environment of continuous improvement
    • Analyse and present data to an audience, including management and consultants
    • Work with senior management in the sustainability of value driven stakeholder relationships (internal and external)
    • Attend to escalations when required and train staff as first line of escalation resolution
    • Practice fair management and staff discipline

    Key Requirements:

    • LLB Degree
    • Admitted Attorney
    • 3 years post articles experience
    • Previous personnel lines experience – Preferred
    • Insurance experience an advantageous

    Key Competencies:

    • Have sound insurance knowledge in a Category 1, Sub Category 2 FSP
