    Manager – Author & Researcher Marketing (Sub-Saharan Africa)

    Job Description

    An exciting opportunity to manage the author and researcher communities as a part of the regional Marketing team. The position will be responsible for developing and managing our strategy to drive the submissions growth targets, generate brand awareness, and increase Open Research revenue in the Sub-Saharan Africa region. The role reports to the Marketing Director and will work across teams to support the delivery of overall commercial revenue target of Open Access Journals and Researcher services.

    The successful candidate will have an interest in and knowledge of scientific publishing and Open Science practices with product and researcher marketing experience.

    Responsibilities:

    • Responsible for marketing Journals by planning and implementing effective strategies with the aim of achieving authorship goals and contributing to a profitable, commercial business in Sub-Saharan Africa Region.
    • Monitor and track submissions and other performance measures, ensuring KPIs are met across multiple benchmarks
    • Develop effective data analyses and messaging best practice to identify, segment, inform and attract the high impact researchers.
    • Drive marketing activities to increase our penetration in Sub Saharan Africa regions across journals, and other research solutions.
    • Building relationships with key institutions, funders, and research centers with a specific focus on new business
    • Aim to understand the needs of researchers, and opportunities, to develop profitable revenue streams for the organization.
    • Engaging with stakeholders externally to promote Taylor & Francis Group’s position in the Open Research community through conferences and presentation opportunities, supporting colleagues internally with Open Research expertise across the business
    • Conceptualize & curate workshops, talks, webinars and other researcher engagement tactics
    • Produce marketing activity and analysis reports for senior management; make recommendations to senior management for improvements to regional growth objectives
    • Engage with internal stakeholders within team, across various departments to drive seamless marketing management and be a spokesperson of SSA region.

    Qualifications

    What we are looking for:

    • Demonstrable customer and commercial awareness – including the competitive environment and market trends.
    • Prior work experience or knowledge of the scientific publishing or the education sector.
    • Ability to be highly self-directed, able to execute marketing strategies and integrated, cross-channel content and deliverables efficiently with particular attention on scalability and ROI.
    • Creative, analytical and sound project management skills.
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills
    • Internal and external stake holder management by developing strong relationships
    • Experience working across Sub Saharan Africa

    Ideally you will have proven expertise and success in a marketing position with digital marketing expertise.
