    Manager: Group Business Control - Roodepoort

    Job Advert Summary    
    Clover is looking for a Manager: Group Business Control to support the Marketing, Commercial and support finction in the following areas: 

    • Define the Topline team financial ambition, aligned to the BU ambition
    • Identify the strategies and business cases to deliver the ambition
    • Measure achievements, analyse variance vs targets, push for corrective actions
    • The Topline controller is a key business partner and stakeholder of the Commercial and Marketing directors and their direct reports.

    Duties and Responsibilities    
    Prepare, co-ordinate, control and execute the budget process and the Mind The Gap (MTG process)

    • Develop annual budgets for Clover Group to ROP, exports and all subsidiaries in collaboration with various role players. Responsible for price & volumes in budget for Clover SA & Subsidiaries        
    • Support and guide marketing and commercial colleagues in their budget inputs. Validate all monthly product sales volumes and pricing, with specific reference to past performance, budget parameters and market conditions        
    • Validate the advertising budget by activity and phasing throughout the year        
    • Validate correctness of all BOMs (by SKU) loaded into the budget system        
    • Ensure all finance divisions timetable deadlines for budget inputs, milestones and presentations are met        
    • Prepare a complete financial analysis on budget outcomes versus latest estimate for current year. This analysis to include at least (1) Volume, price, mix analysis down to MOM level, (2) Fixed Costs Tariff allocation, (3) Overall profitability        
    • Assist EXCO in the analysis of Clover budget and present Clover Budget up until ROP level for the Group        
    • Build the MTG from volume to ROP by customer and SKU and region        
    • Build and review forecasts and estimates for marketing spend by Brand and spend type        
    • Quantify and communicate all risks and opportunities        
    • Manage and co-ordinate the monthly MTG process        
    • Prepare final Budget Presentation which clearly outlines Budget process/approach to be followed        

    Prepare and control monthly BU Profit & loss statements and management accounts         

    • Prepare monthly brand, regional and customer management income statements        
    • Prepare and present product P&Ls to BU Heads and customer P&Ls to commercial        
    • Analyse volume, mix and price variance analysis by SKU and investigate and correct anomalies         
    • Monitor the actual use of financial resources against approved budget, and explain variances monthly to the Director and Business partners        
    • Analyse financial results, both forward-looking and historic, to provide timely insights, implications and recommendations on trends, opportunities and risks        
    • Ensure contracts are complied with in respect of partners, co-packers etc        
    • Review profit and loss accounts for all African subsidiaries, i.e. Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Tanzania etc        
    • Review and approve balance sheet reconciliations        

    Management of assigned Projects

    • Identify and lead productivity projects with a focus on either cost savings or revenue growth        
    • Convene project meetings of all necessary parties         
    • Establish and manage project timelines and responsibility        
    • Prepare the business case for possible acquisition opportunities. Manage the business case for projects from data collection, 5 year forecast, investment proposal, discounted cashflow analysis, Internal rate of return calculation        
    • Present business case to executive committee and incorporate all comments and changes required        
    • Provide post mortem on approved business case after 12 months of implementation, and document the lessons learned        
    • Manage projects surrounding business process improvements with proper tracking of cost savings against overall budget        

    Strategic management

    • Support the sales team in developing the commercial strategy and analysing the potential sales impact and profitability of different strategies (Pricing)        
    • Support the marketing team in developing the Marketing strategy and assessing commercial viability of these strategies        
    • Support of Management in evaluating top line strategies from a financial standpoint        
    • Lead the financial evaluation of new product launches and business strategies        
    • Devise, analyse and make recommendations on business optimisation        
    • Monitor sales performance, MOM performance and make recommendations for improvement        
    • Customer & Channel profitability analysis in collaboration with the Commercial team        
    • Brand & Category profitability analysis in collaboration with the Marketing team        
    • Customer & Brand profitability analysis in collaboration with the Commercial and Marketing teams        
    • Trading terms analyses, monitoring & identify and implement value improvement opportunities        

    Perform ad-hoc functions

    • Support Exco in financial decisions/costing when required        
    • Support Business with advice on all Business Control related aspects        
    • Assist internal and external auditors with data requests, query resolution, management comments/ explanations, etc        
    • Implementation of policies/procedures to govern a safe control environment        

    Manage staff 

    • Ensure optimal utilisation of staff
    • Train and develop staff
    • Conduct meetings and ensure effective communication to all
    • Liaise and communicate with management in all departments
    • Provide leadership and training to staff members within the department
    • Set objectives, manage and measure performance of team
