    Manager: HR BP BU

    Core Description

    Responsible to manage the interaction between the business units and HR. Work in direct partnership with leadership from Business units as a key enabler in all areas related to people. Assist in ensuring that the necessary support is provided from BU/ Corporate HR to the business units, with a view to maximise performance, and support the delivery of BU objectives - implementing HR policies, systems and processes. Manage the provision of Employee Relations services across the Business Unit/ Service Organisation in a particular region. The key function of this role is the effective management of the interaction between the organisation and its employees.

    Job Responsibilities

    Business Unit Liaison

    • Manage the people partnership with the Business Unit/ Service Organisation leadership
    • Demonstrate an understanding of the global market place, competitive position and commercial drivers for a large scale business.
    • Use analytics, data and trends both internally and externally to diagnose Business Unit issues and recommend effective solutions.

    Trusted Advisor

    • Manage the relationship with the Business Unit leadership as a trusted advisor
    • Demonstrate influence and credibility with leadership across the business units
    • Liaise with line stakeholders to identify people related business needs and communicate to BU HR Specialists
    • Assist BU and/or Corporate Centre HR specialists with implementation of interventions within the BU/ SO
    • Facilitate interactions between the BU and/or Corporate Centre HR specialists with line management and employees in designated customer base

    Employee Relations

    • Advise, guide and support line management and HR business partners with all internal employee relations matters (conflict management, chairing & initiating cases, problem solving, disputes management, grievances, incapacity and disciplinary cases, etc.)
    • Contribute to the development/ drafting and revision of employee relations policies and procedures
    • Ensure effective administration and adherence to employee relations policies, procedures, codes, collective agreement and labour/ employment legislation
    • Effective management of people related issues such as: disciplinary/ grievance/ incapacity processes, strike management, workplace disputes, performance management and absenteeism
    • Develop effective relationships with the business to promote good employee relations across the organisation
    • Ensure that all employees are made aware of the organisation#s employee relations policies, procedures and collective agreements.
    • Train and build capacity of line management/ organised labour and HR business partners
    • Keep informed and up-to-date on changes to labour/ employment laws, disputes resolution institution decisions
    • Manage direct reports exercising good people management practices, particularly with regard to performance management and career development
    • Facilitate and use conciliatory mechanisms in an attempt to resolve dispute between two parties in terms of ER policy or collective agreements
    • Review of procedural and substantive fairness of applications for dismissal reviews within the time frames reflected on the ER policy or collective agreements
    • Establish key initiatives that will contribute to the improvement of company productivity
