Manager Strategy and Transformation at MTN

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

As a member of the Group Strategy and Transformation Office the Manager will be responsible for implementing MTNs strategy through the successful delivery of MTN’s identified strategic programs. The Manager Strategy and Transformation will be accountable for the end to end delivery of work streams as part of a larger program. This will involve leading cross functional teams in the successful delivery of the work stream.

The Manager will work as a part of a larger Program team consisting of other internal consultants, external contractors and business line subject matter experts and will for purposes of the program report into the relevant General Manager for the program. The Manager will form part of more than one program team at a time and as such may report to more than one General Manager simultaneously.

The Manager will also be responsible for contributing to building MTN’s overall capacity to deliver programs through contributing to the knowledge repository, processes, tools and culture of the Group Strategy and Transformation team.

Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)

Education:

• Minimum 4-year Academic Degree
• Post graduate qualification (MBA/CA/Masters) advantageous

Experience:

• Minimum of 3 years of experience delivering complex programs and highly analytical, multi-stakeholder workstreams, ideally in a leading consulting or multinational organization
• At least 1 year of telecommunications industry experience preferred
• Work across diverse cultures and geographies
• Proven track record of delivery

• Resilience and agility: Ability to lead complex, ambiguous, high profile programs and deal with the volatile nature of a program environment. Strong tenacity and ability to quickly ramp up on content areas
• Leadership skills: Ability to get along with, listen to, speak to, and manage people’s expectations. Strong communication skills at all levels and the ability to easily collaborate with teams, internal / external stakeholders with or without formal reporting relationships
• Problem Solving skills: Analytical and critical thinking are essential in evaluating problems and reaching solutions. This skill requires at times logical methodical approach and in other situations creativity and lateral thinking. Persuasion and negotiation will be also important.
• Execution and Implementation Skills: Reliability, results-oriented, proven track record of delivery and can-do attitude
• Challenger mind-set: Ability to engage with senior business stakeholders and challenge the status quo utilizing data analytics and problem-solving capabilities
