    Executive: Group Tax

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • The Executive, Group Tax leads the Tax Risk Assessment, Tax Audit, Tax Forecasting, Computation, Reporting and Refunds sub-functions within the Tax Center of Excellence which is part of the Finance CoEs at MTN. The Executive, Tax reports into the Group Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and is supported by the Senior Manager, Risk Assessment, Tax Audit, Forecasting, Computation, Reporting and Refunds. The position will interface with the Opco stakeholders and the Shared Services Hub (SSH) (not limited to) via Oracle workflows and non-Oracle workflows in order to ensure effective and efficient operations. The position will be responsible to monitor compliance with applicable taxation laws

    Key Deliverables
    Strategy Development and Implementation

    • Lead the creation of the departmental Tax strategy in line with the overarching business goals
    • Accountable for effective implementation of the tax strategy by means of providing direction, structure, frameworks, models, plans and roadmaps

    Operational Delivery

    • Build and manage a high performing Tax team
    • Manage and report on the key tax KPIs on an agreed basis to the different stakeholders
    • Evaluate environmental variables and business market conditions to ensure that tax best practices are in place that align to the business needs and strategies
    • Ensure Opco and external compliance and optimisation of the delivery of catalogue services
    • Identify and mitigate risks to protect the MTN business from potential losses, while ensuring the business strategy is maintained
    • Ensure balance between short term and long-term tax benefits, risks and business goals

    Tax Risk Assessment

    • Develop/update the group tax strategy and policy and ensure that it is aligned to the overall group strategy and drive the implementation across the group
    • Design and develop the MTN framework for the management of tax risks and ensure that key tax risks are identified, and mitigating steps are implemented that do not contradict the overall business strategy.

    Oversight and guidance role

    • Accountable to monitor, track and follow up on the tax compliance of OpCos
    • Review and provide insight into tax calculations performed e.g. provisional tax returns
    • Review and provide insight into monthly tax calculations, tax budget and forecast calculations
    • Review and provide input to correspondence with the tax authority

    • Review the controls around the Shared Services Hub (SSH) and ensure they remain sufficient to address transactional tax risk within the operating companies.
    • Provide and maintain a system to update and store tax laws and amendments in the operating companies and the group.

    Collaboration/Coordination

    • Ensure that appropriate support and coordination is provided to Operating Company (Opco), Finance Business Partner (BP), Group Management Services (GMS) and Shared Service Hub (SSH)
    • Collaborate with GMS and Opco Finance BPs to develop and implement an integrated Tax strategy, policy and procedures
    • Ensure consistency and the sharing of best practices across Opcos in Taxation programs through governance mechanisms and the support of Opco(s) program implementation
    • Accountable for the coordination of efforts to develop technical capabilities in Opco Taxation BPs, SSH and GMS
    • Active collaboration with Opco tax teams on tax related concerns and on effective engagement and management of tax authorities
    • Provide input in the development of standard SSH Finance documents and reports
    • Ensure management of master data elements and BI reporting
    • Liaise with other CoEs (Financial Accounting, Corporate performance management (CPM) to collate, review and approve the management discussion & analysis section of the financial reports and co-author commentary (management/EXCO/CFO/CEO)

    Senior Manager Digital Transformation & Innovation

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • Responsible for leading implementation of Digital Transformation programs through the successful delivery of related program initiatives, alongside owning the development, refining and rollout of the blueprint for MTN’s strategic innovation model. Will be accountable for the end to end delivery of work streams as part of the digital transformation program (e.g., oversight on definition and delivery of new customer journeys and related cross-functional impacts; leading regular reviews of OpCos’ digital maturity; supporting development and management of initiative pipelines for RPA).
    • The role invariably involves leading cross functional teams in the successful delivery of multiple work streams, working as a part of a larger Digital Transformation Program team consisting of other internal functions, external contractors and business line subject matter experts.
    • For purposes of the program report into the relevant General Manager that is accountable for the Digital Transformation program. Furthermore, this role will also be responsible for contributing to MTN’s overall digital capability development through contribution of new digital concepts, processes, methods and tools and to culture of the Group Strategy & Transformation team

    Digital Transformation & Innovation Program Delivery

    • Define the workstream scope required to achieve a given set of program objectives. This will require the translation of program objectives and milestones into an actionable set of deliverables in consultation with the business unit subject matter experts
    • Create the plan to deliver the scope of defined workstreams
    • Achieve buy-in for scope and plans developed from key stakeholders to secure the resources and funds to deliver with the support of the General
    • Work within and contribute to the governance framework of the program
    • Lead the delivery of the workstream from inception to handover to business units responsible to operationalise and take ownership, facilitate the required change management and capability building needed in the handover process
    • Define the measures of success and ensure reporting during delivery and post implementation performance and ensure that sustainability management is completed as per the applicable performance management framework
    • Ensure adherence to project budgets and schedules

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    The General Manager: Strategy and Transformation will be accountable for the end to end shaping (i.e. ideating, refining, and business justification), scoping, delivery, performance management and embedment of a portfolio of cross-functional strategic programs linked to MTNs Ambition 2025 strategy.

    The General Manager: Strategy and Transformation will lead combined teams of in-house consultants, 3rd party contractors/partners and subject matter experts from the business in project teams depending on program requirements.     Senior Manager: Functional Digital Projects

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    To manage, co-ordinate and implement the Group Digital Services projects bouquet; according to the business plans, prioritisation and set competing constraints within a multi-vendor environment, across the MTN Group FINCOs footprint.
