    Senior Manager Digital Transformation & Innovation

    Mission/ Core purpose of the Job

    • Responsible for leading implementation of Digital Transformation programs through the successful delivery of related program initiatives, alongside owning the development, refining and rollout of the blueprint for MTN’s strategic innovation model. Will be accountable for the end to end delivery of work streams as part of the digital transformation program (e.g., oversight on definition and delivery of new customer journeys and related cross-functional impacts; leading regular reviews of OpCos’ digital maturity; supporting development and management of initiative pipelines for RPA).
    • The role invariably involves leading cross functional teams in the successful delivery of multiple work streams, working as a part of a larger Digital Transformation Program team consisting of other internal functions, external contractors and business line subject matter experts.
    • For purposes of the program report into the relevant General Manager that is accountable for the Digital Transformation program. Furthermore, this role will also be responsible for contributing to MTN’s overall digital capability development through contribution of new digital concepts, processes, methods and tools and to culture of the Group Strategy & Transformation team

    Key Performance Areas: Core, essential responsibilities / outputs of the position (KPAs)
    Digital Transformation & Innovation Program Delivery

    • Define the workstream scope required to achieve a given set of program objectives. This will require the translation of program objectives and milestones into an actionable set of deliverables in consultation with the business unit subject matter experts
    • Create the plan to deliver the scope of defined workstreams
    • Achieve buy-in for scope and plans developed from key stakeholders to secure the resources and funds to deliver with the support of the General
    • Work within and contribute to the governance framework of the program
    • Lead the delivery of the workstream from inception to handover to business units responsible to operationalise and take ownership, facilitate the required change management and capability building needed in the handover process
    • Define the measures of success and ensure reporting during delivery and post implementation performance and ensure that sustainability management is completed as per the applicable performance management framework
    • Ensure adherence to project budgets and schedules
    • Identify and manage risks which will impact program delivery and communicate risks to all relevant stakeholders
    • Build subject matter expertise on workstream topics and be able to succinctly drive to and articulate key insights in a structured manner both verbally and in writing
    • Develop and launch the blueprint for MTN’s enterprise innovation program/methodology leveraging industry best practices and Agile test-and-learn techniques to accelerate the organizations path toward launching successful innovations at scale

    Manage and develop teams

    • Plan and resource workstreams with the balance required to deliver effectively, while adhering to program budgets and creatively engage resources to manage constraints that may arise within the business
    • Effectively allocate the scope of work between one’s self, other allocated
    • Strategy & Transformation colleagues and business line resources
    • Develop the program delivery, technical and soft skills of the program team members and one’s self

    Agile education and adoption

    Support the organization in embracing Digital Transformation and Agile as a culture shift:

    • Educate MTN employees across all levels and OpCos on the Agile methodology and oversee the development of Agile teams to ensure effective outcomes for the organization
    • Guide teams through the Agile implementation process and encourage all functions and leadership to embrace Agile principles and methods; leverage best-practices and 3rd-party insights as needed to support a phased Agile transformation of the enterprise
    • Drive collaboration with other MANCO and OpCo functions to strengthen adoption of Agile processes, principles and practices across all levels and departments in the organization,

    Contribute to enhancing MTN’s overall program execution capability

    • Contribute to the knowledge repository for cross functional and cross market knowledge share – compile and constantly refine the Digital Transformation “playbook”
    • Perform post mortems of digital transformation projects and initiatives to enable continuous improvement
    • Improve and standardise the quality and effectiveness of relevant key projects’ performance management processes
    • Uphold the MTN values in the performance of one’s duties and role model the values for colleagues
    • Implement and improve tools, processes and people management techniques to build the overall capacity to deliver, the ability to track progress and impact to manage risks
    • Serve as a subject matter expert on programs outside of one’s portfolio and share best practices learnt with other program leads and teams
    • Build a culture and capability of continuous improvement in the Digital Transformation team and in the organisation more broadly

    Job Requirements (Education, Experience and Competencies)
    Education:

    • Minimum 4 Year Academic Degree in a technical or engineering discipline e.g. Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, etc.
    • Masters or Post Grad Degree in Engineering highly preferred. MBA further advantageous

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience delivering technical projects using Agile methodologies
    • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory / managerial role with accountability for overall work product of the team under management
    • Experience designing and / or delivering cross-team digital transformation programs (including experience detailing transformation frameworks, initiative prioritization, and work planning)
    • Proven ability to introduce and drive innovations in products, processes, or other high-value business functions/deliverables
    • Experience working across diverse cultures and geographies

    Skills / Competencies:

    • Agile Scrum certified
    • Demonstration of strong technical aptitude, ability to build credibility with C-suite technical executives
    • Very strong analytical and conceptual problem-solving abilities
    • Ability to work highly independently and lead cross-functional teams
    • Resilience, strong solution mindset, 80-20 focus
    • Ability to build strong senior relationships across complex orgs
    • Creativity and tenacity are key
