    National Linehaul Manager

    Job Overview

    Build and maintain a line haul platform for the network that is reliable and accessible across both Domestic and Express platforms.  Work in close liaison with operations to achieve cost effective transport solutions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide support to stations on connectivity & operational requirements
    • Oversee & support hub operations – dotted line to all the branches
    • Provide stations with competitive transit times to be offered to customers
    • Manage, control and reduce costs at Aramex hubs
    • Provide global and regional business development teams with better rates, new airlines, new setup…etc.
    • Play major role in product development process in terms of setting up the routing, packing and Standard Operating Procedures which ensure smooth kick off for the product (Bio, Lithium batteries, Heavyweight / Deferred business)
    • Reporting any information that might impact company image and brand or functioning
    • Focus on optimum vehicle load capacity utilization by selecting the right vehicles for the work to be performed, with design of truck bodies and trailers built to configure and to adapt to differing cargo types, breakbulk or palletized.
    • Perform capacity planning & prepare for peak periods
    • Ensures continuous improvement by adopting best practices within the network
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers
    • Hold Quarterly meetings with suppliers, sign new global deals, new rates & create new setups
    • Report to all stakeholders on cost & transactions with suppliers
    • Identify trends and areas for improvement through cost analysis
    • Monitor capacities and make adjustments according to the performance
    • Investigate and fix service related issues at Hubs, stations and airlines
    • Monitor KPIs at hub operations & help enhance performance
    • Responsible for contingency and disaster recovery planning through providing alternatives and restoring services.
    • Design system functionalities and changes required on the line-haul IT system
    • Adhere with company HSSE, compliance and sustainability corporate policies and standards
    • Manage vehicles in a cost effective manner with the assistance of the Fleet manager
    • Manage sub-contractors in a cost effective manager
    • Assist Risk department in cases where a courier or vehicle is in danger, to ensure the safety of the courier and vehicle.
    • Ensuring that the disciplinary code and procedures of Aramex are consistently and fairly applied to all levels of staff in cases of misconduct. All policies and procedures must be made known to all operations staff.
    • Ensure that all costs are allocated correctly.
    • That at all times he/she conducts him/herself in a manner which befits the position, leading by example at all times as well as maintaining control of operational issues.
    • All staff are treated fairly and with respect.
    • Appropriate planning and sufficient coverage at all times taking into account leave, sickness and resignations.
    • All clients are handled with due care.
    • Maximize return on investment through managing cost, service and productivity
    • Communicate daily any service related issuesto relevant team proactively
    • Responsible for driver selection and driver training.
    • Nurture a strong relationship with vehicle manufacturer/s and negotiate favorable vehicle purchase arrangements with buy-back agreements and extended vehicle warranties
    • Ensure fleer consistent reliability by negotiating maintenance agreements with vehicle manufacturers .
    • Establish fleet insurance with a specialist insurance broker
    • Manage fleet operations by controlling own 24-hour in-house fleet vehicle tracking system or outsource this function to eg. Eqstra
    • Tyre management system to measure tyre costs and to reduce tyre theft. Outsourcing of this function is available. Eg Tyre Point or Mastertreads.
    • Prepare annual budget for presentation and approval by the Managing Director.
    • Communicate daily any service related issues to relevant team proactively
    • Provide stations with competitive transit times to be offered to customers

    Related Procedures

    • Adhere to all related policies, procedures documented and published under infohub on the intranet.
    • Manage Aramex’s membership with the Road Freight Association and any others that will benefit Aramex.
