    Payroll Manager (Half Day Position)

    The position will be responsible for supervising the payroll function, to achieve efficient payroll administration for the company, maintain data integrity and meet business requirements in line with company strategic objectives, policies and legislation.

    Your role

    PAYROLL

    • Backup for monthly payroll processing and payment of salaries and 3rd party payments.
    • Oversee correct implementation of payroll changes.
    • Resolving payroll issues and queries.
    • Prepare monthly payroll GL reconciliations (IFS vs Sage). Analyze reconciling items and provide clearing
    • transactions.
    • Manage the external and internal audits.
    • Drive compliance and governance with gaps identified through audit reviews.
    • Handle payroll and benefits queries and provide feedback accordingly.
    • Monitor the monthly final payroll close in conjunction with HR.
    • Support HR with new developments and testing relating to payroll.

    TAX:

    • Ensure compliance with employee taxation regulations.
    • Perform expat tax calculations and act as contact with external tax consultants.
    • Manage the annual and bi-annual PAYE reconciliation process for SARS. This includes reviewing IRP5
    • certificates to be issued to employees.
    • Completion and submission of statutory returns for PAYE e.g EMP201, EMP501 and annual Workmen’s
    • Compensation.
    • Handling SARS payroll audits and external audit queries.
    • Manage the process of Employee Share Plan Payments including requesting tax directives from SARS.
    • Manage AA88 SARS deductions.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing a payroll of at least 350 employees
    • 5 to 10 years’ experience in payroll processing and submission of payroll related statutory returns
    • 5 to 10 years’ experience in similar position

    Desired Skills:

    • Employee taxation, including knowledge of expat regulations
    • Working knowledge of e-filing and SAGE
    • Dealing with SARS payroll audits
    • Advanced excel skills

    Qualification:

    • Suitable diploma / degree
