    Payroll Manager (Half Day Position)

    The position will be responsible for supervising the payroll function, to achieve efficient payroll administration for the company, maintain data integrity and meet business requirements in line with company strategic objectives, policies and legislation.

    Your role

    PAYROLL

    • Backup for monthly payroll processing and payment of salaries and 3rd party payments.
    • Oversee correct implementation of payroll changes.
    • Resolving payroll issues and queries.
    • Prepare monthly payroll GL reconciliations (IFS vs Sage). Analyze reconciling items and provide clearing
    • transactions.
    • Manage the external and internal audits.
    • Drive compliance and governance with gaps identified through audit reviews.
    • Handle payroll and benefits queries and provide feedback accordingly.
    • Monitor the monthly final payroll close in conjunction with HR.
    • Support HR with new developments and testing relating to payroll.

    TAX:

    • Ensure compliance with employee taxation regulations.
    • Perform expat tax calculations and act as contact with external tax consultants.
    • Manage the annual and bi-annual PAYE reconciliation process for SARS. This includes reviewing IRP5
    • certificates to be issued to employees.
    • Completion and submission of statutory returns for PAYE e.g EMP201, EMP501 and annual Workmen’s
    • Compensation.
    • Handling SARS payroll audits and external audit queries.
    • Manage the process of Employee Share Plan Payments including requesting tax directives from SARS.
    • Manage AA88 SARS deductions.

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Minimum 5 years’ experience in managing a payroll of at least 350 employees
    • 5 to 10 years’ experience in payroll processing and submission of payroll related statutory returns
    • 5 to 10 years’ experience in similar position

    Desired Skills:

    • Employee taxation, including knowledge of expat regulations
    • Working knowledge of e-filing and SAGE
    • Dealing with SARS payroll audits
    • Advanced excel skills

    Qualification:

    • Suitable diploma / degree

    Bookkeeper

    The position will be responsible for processing and payment of personnel related expenses, ensuring compliance with submission of statutory returns, as well as various tasks relating to reporting of the monthly results.

    Your role

    • Reviewing, processing and payment of employee expenses, advances and travel claims.
    • Completion and submission of monthly VAT returns.
    • Handling SARS VAT audits.
    • Processing of accruals and period allocations for monthly reporting
    • General ledger reconciliation of specific balance sheet accounts, including salary accounts. Analyse
    • reconciling items and provide clearing transactions.
    • Handling of external audit queries

    Your profile

    Knowledge and Skills Required:

    • Experience with VAT submissions.
    • 5 to 10 years’ experience in similar position.

    Desired Skills:

    • VAT regulations, specifically relating to export sales.
    • Advanced excel skills.

    Qualification:

    • Suitable diploma / degree in finance or accounting

    Project Engineer

    We have a vacancy for a Project Engineer in the Product Design area and we are looking for an engineering professional who will be able to facilitate and speed up the interactions between the different electronic and software development teams.
    This role requires someone who has strong critical thinking and structured problem-solving skills and must be able to function in a high-pressure environment. The successful candidate must also be professional with strong work ethics (self-motivated, -disciplined and -driven). Good oral and written communication skills, as well as presentations skills are also required.

    The main tasks:

    • Perform a Technical Team Leader role by coordinating development activities, utilising a team of engineers and technicians, often reporting to different managers
    • Inputs into budgets, project plans and SOW
    • Perform the leading role (scrum master) in an agile development environment 
    • Be able to execute a work package within time, budget and specification
    • Coordinate all the design, implementation, integration, test and qualification activities
    • Interface with Project management team, compile and supply feedback on progress and schedule
    • Identify suitable tailoring of the process and negotiate with Quality Assurance
    • Provide effective design related risk assessment and technical inputs into R&D and customer programmes
    • Provide the required support to Product Areas and other groups who interface directly with clients

    Required skills:

    • 5 years’ experience in an electronics and software engineering development environment as part of the development team
    • 5 years’ experience leading Technical Project development within a development organization
    • Experience in a military and avionics development environment will be advantageous 
    • Demonstrated track record of leading a team of development engineers
    • General knowledge on EW and Avionics products
    • Basic systems engineering knowledge
    • Knowledge of configuration and qualification processes

    Qualification

    • Engineering degree – Electronics, or Software, or relevant technical qualification
    • Project Management qualification or Project Management experience
    • Systems engineering or systems engineering management training will be very beneficial (Agile/Scrum Training)
