Principal Specialist : Security Ops at Vodacom

Role Purpose

• Principal Specialist - Cyber Security Operations will provide the leadership to a team forensuring cybersecurity operations are proactively managed and implemented acrossVodacom Group. Partner with other Cyber Security stakeholders to align goals andpriorities with security platforms/feeds, processes, and intelligence analysis.
• She/He will oversee and/ supervise:
• Security engineers and developers inclusive of the deployment, onboarding, operations,scalability, tuning of Perimeter and Core Security, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) /Intrusion Detection System (IDS), Endpoint Protection, Detection and Response,NextGen Anti-Virus/Malware, Security Information and Event Management (SIEM),Identity and Access Management (IAM), Vulnerability Management, Patching, WAF andDAM platforms

Your responsibilities will include:

• Lead Cyber Defence Operations team
• Supervise the deployment of security platforms and onboarding systems into, includingbut not limiting to: SIEM, IAM, DAM, WAF, Vulnerability Management, Patching, DLPand EDR.
• Engage with key business stakeholders and operational partners in managing andremediating of cyber-related attacks.
• Lead the development and implementation of penetration testing of online and networksbased systems and forensic processes.
• Approve penetration tests/ethical hacking reports.
• Influence and improve upon existing Threat Intelligence processes through innovationand operational change.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators, determines gaps in performancemetrics, and recommend/executes change management techniques for efficiency/qualityimprovements.
• Ensures that the team meets and exceeds the expectations of internal and externalcustomer based of defined SLAs.
• Evaluate existing technical capabilities and systems and identifies opportunities forimprovement.
• Drive automation and efficiencies through rigorous process documentation andenablement of tools.
• Create of reports, dashboards, metrics, and presentations to Senior Management.
• Build a team that collaborates with other departments.
• Be an active member of cyber Security Leadership team, responsible for deliveringstrategic technology security objectives.

The ideal candidate for this role will have

• Matric – essential
• Degree or National Diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, InformationSystems, Systems Analysis, or other related fields
• 8 - 10 years working experience in leading a technology operational area and managinga team of operations specialists
• Demonstrated ability to be a thought leader and have excellent communication skills
• In-depth knowledge of Security Platforms such as: SIEM, UAM/IAM, DAM, WAF,Vulnerability Management and Patching
• In-depth knowledge of and experience in security concepts such as cyber-attacks andtechniques, risk management, incident management, threat management, etc.
• Proficient in preparation of reports, dashboards, and documentation
• Ability to handle high-pressure situations with key stakeholdersGood analytical, problemsolving, and interpersonal skills
