Production Engineer - Springs at Saint-Gobain

POSITION DESCRIPTION

• Ensuring that the plant runs effectively by leading a team of operators and planners. Delivering world class plant performance across all pillars of WCM. Resolving problems occurring during the running of the production lines and administration and HR functions of all shift activities

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Production Management diploma or similar
• Technical qualification will be an advantage
• At least 5 years manufacturing experience in a supervisory position
• Managing sub ordinates to achieve set targets
• Good communication and numerical skills.
• Computer literate.
• Report writing skills.
• Team leader skills – to lead and motivate a team
• Able to analyze drawings
• Planning of all shift activities

• Shift administration – Recording of feedback reports, downtime trend analysis, weekly and monthly wages leave authorisation, monitoring of absenteeism and late coming, monitoring of involvement in targets as set out by management (SHEQ, WCM, Production).  
• Develop and review procedures for production lines.
• Leading a production team to effectively produce EPS as per requirements. 
• Supervise and plan the daily tasks of all the manufacturing processes ect, Prefoaming, block making, cornices manufacturing and packaging, hydroboard, cutting, packaging, grooving, politerm, bead bagging, regrinding of scrap, regrind bagging, wiggly worms and loading
• Ensure that production is done according to the production schedule and to the required quality specification.
• Ensure that resources are readily available at all working stations as per production schedule
• Technical assistance during breakdowns in order to minimize downtime. 
• Coaching and training of subordinates to improve skills within team
• Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained as per 5S rules
• Submit a monthly report to management on the performance of the plant.
• Prepare a daily report on performance of the production shifts.
• Assist in the management of the QMS system on the plant, including but not limited to updating of procedures, completion and investigation of non Conformances
• Ensure that all WCM duties as required by WCM and Management is completed by senior operators and operators and yourself on a daily basis (Cleaning schedules, SHEQ Audits, Quick Kaizens, tags, EWO’s)
• Daly production meeting
• Weekly toolbox talks
• Assist with costings and routings as requested
• Assist purchasing with raw material and packaging purchase, to ensure that resources are available at all times
• Creating of requisitions for repair work and consumables for the factory
• Approving and releasing of requisitions
• Approving of cycle counts and submit variance reports to management
• Lead stock count team and ensure that it is done as SG requirements
• Book in stock if needed
• Liaise with sales and production planner on production requirements
• Manage of cost centres to ensure expenses are controlled in line with budget
• Leading cost reduction and cost deployment projects. Annual plan projects.
