    Quality Control Officer (Hay Level 12/C1)

    Job Profile:

    • To develop, implement, and maintain the Quality Control Management Systems within the Fluoro-chemical operations, to ensure that the final product conforms to the customer requirements.

    Key Performance Areas

    Quality Control

    • Key knowledge of Gas Chromatography (GC) and Fourier Transform Infra-Red (FTIR) is a must.
    • Calibration, Validation, Method Development and other related discipline which are applicable in the Laboratory including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP), Good Housekeeping, Document Control, Millennium Development Goals (MDG), etc.
    • QAQC of all externally provided raw material and final products in Pelchem Plants
    • Verification activities of material acceptance specifications and confirm MSDS for new products in Surface Fluorination Plant.
    • Thoroughly inspect PTFE bottles and cylinders, maintaining high quality standards before customer dispatch.
    • QAQC continual improvement.
    • Ensure SFL batch route cards are QC signed off and COC attached to the route card
    • Execute quality control plans.
    • Assist Production facilities in executing planned QAQC activities.
    • Quality assessments according to established and approved procedures and policies in the Department including updates on documents required for work to be done.
    • Adherence to the relevant quality standards (ISO 9001:2015 & ISO 14001: 2015 and other related quality practices).
    • Troubleshooting on instruments if and when needed.
    • Reporting all out of specification results and following up that action is taken to correct the problem and having the knowledge of Non Conformance Reports (NCR).
    • Training students on lab activities.
    • Familiar with Quality Assurance for work to be done in the Plants and equipment, which will be used for execution of the work.

    SHEQ Regulatory and Compliance

    • Adhere to safety regulations and requirements.
    • Ensure PPE is in good condition, used and correctly worn in all workplaces where required. Participate in Safety related forums and knowledge of OHS and legislations governing Safety in the Workplace.
    • Ensure permits are co-signed as required.
    • Attend statutory training.
    • Job safety inspections.
    • Ensure that compliance to the requirements of QMS to ensure conformance of the product.

    Quality Assurance        

    • Ensure compliance with laboratory accreditation, regulatory standards and information management policies.
    • Oversee internal audit processes and external assessments to ensure best laboratory practices.
    • Monitor customer satisfaction and performance metrics to ensure high quality product output.
    • To qualify XEF2 and F2 to ensure that they meet customer specification.
    • Maintain ISO accreditation to adhere to quality standards.
    • Perform product quality trend analysis to identify preventative actions in order to prevent the occurrence of product defects.
    • Ensure that all Laboratory equipment are calibrated and conform to the applicable regulatory standards and authorities.
    • Organize and maintain a comprehensive filing system for reports, results and certificates of conformance.

    Key Knowledge & Skills

    • Demonstrate understanding of ISO management systems (ISO 9001 and ISO 17025).
    • Knowledge of Good Laboratory Practice
    • Knowledge and skill for interpretation of results from the Gas Chromatography(GC) and  Fourier-Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR) instruments
    • Knowledge of applicable QC standards and regulations

    Requirements

    QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    Minimum Qualification: 

    • Diploma in Analytical Chemistry or equivalent.

    Minimum Experience: 

    • Three (3) years’ work experience in chemical plant and Laboratory environment.
    • Experience in ISO 17025.
    • Experience of operating analytical instruments.
