Job Description

You will also be responsible for:

Ensuring that the requirements of ISO 9001 are implemented and maintained in the Department. This includes the management and verification of work affecting quality and have the organizational freedom and authority to do the following:

• Initiate any necessary actions on behalf of the Head of Department to prevent the occurrence of product non-conformity in the Department
• Identify and record ant departmental quality problems and bring them to the attention of the Head of Department in accordance with documented procedures and work instructions
• Initiate, recommend and provide solutions, for and on behalf of the Head of Department, to ensure the Quality system is adhered to at all times
• To act on behalf of the Head of Department in the verification of the effectiveness of solutions to quality problems
• To ensure that future controls with regards to the processing and delivery of non-conforming products have been achieved to a satisfactory level that any deficiencies are corrected
• Report on the performance of the quality system to the Head of Department for review
• Perform and coordinate Level 1 audit activities within the Department and take corrective actions to rectify problems found during these audits, in accordance with relevant work instructions and procedures
• Initiate a Level 1-audit schedule and ensure it is adhered to
• Initiate, coordinate and investigate corrective/preventative action requests submitted either by the department or against the department to ensure a quality final product and ultimately customer satisfaction

Maintain and develop the departments Health and Safety System

• Pro-actively maintain Health and Safety standards and co-ordinate Health and Safety activities in the departmen
• Maintain an effective incident and injury reporting system to ensure the Health and Safety standards are being complied to and are efficient
• Attend departmental and site safety meetings
• Ensure notice boards are updated regularly
• Coordinate and check incident/injury reports and keep records thereof
• Coordinate, check and follow up on the loss control files in the department
• Maintain and update the group meeting and physical inspection control sheets
• Initiate and coordinate the annual review of the Critical Task inventories and analyses
• Monthly inspections
• Monitor areas of concern within the department
• Remain abreast of problems/activities within the department to be able to assist the HOD/Met Superintendent/Production Overseer/section Engineer/ Engineering Foreman to solve or overcome Health and Safety, Quality and environmental problems.

This role is at a band 7 level and reports to the Manager: Production.

Qualifications
You must have:

• A Grade 12/NQF4 qualification (with Maths and Science passed as subjects) – please attach a copy/copies of your Matric Certificate/academic record

Experience required:

• 3 years in Supervisory/Training capacity - essential

Knowledge And Skills

• SABS Module 1; Principles of Risk Assessment; Modern Safety Management, Legal Standards, Environmental Legislation
• SABS Modules 2 & 3, SAATCA Registration (advantageous)
