    Regional General Manager: Cape Region

    Job Summary 

    A challenging vacancy currently exists for a dynamic, team-oriented, and highly motivated Regional General Manager: Cape. The successful candidate will be closely involved with the implementation and maintenance of sound administration and corporate governance systems, policies, and procedures within the different operational units of the Cape Region. The position will be based in Cape Town at Table Mountain National Park. – Rhodes Memorial

    Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree in Conservation/Tourism/Business Management, or any other relevant qualification coupled with five years of related management experience.
    • 7 to 10 years experience in senior management
    • Any postgraduate degree in a related discipline or MBA will be an added advantage.
    • Working knowledge of relevant conservation legislation and conservation management
    • Computer literacy with a working knowledge of Microsoft packages
    • Sound knowledge of statutory governing National Parks incl. NEMA: PAA, MPA, PFMA, etc.
    • Good written and verbal communication, negotiation, project management, conflict resolution and community liaison skills
    • Willingness to work long and irregular hours as well as extensive travelling.
    • Sound organisational, administrative, negotiation skills and stakeholder management.
    • A valid driver’s license.

    Responsibilities

    • To coordinate and manage the Human Capital and Financial Management functions for the Cape Region, which includes five national parks.
    • To manage, monitor and report on the Cape Region’s divisional Scorecard and Business Plan.
    • To provide effective strategic management and leadership for the region.
    • To ensure implementation and monitoring of the regional business plan.
    • To ensure effective planning and management of Tourism operations for the region.
    • To ensure effective conservation management for the region.
    • To ensure effective constituency building with neighbouring communities and other Stakeholders for the region.
    • To implement sound governance and financial management for the region.
    • To lead, develop and manage the Human Capital of the region.
    • To ensure the effective implementation of stakeholder management in the Cape Region
