    Renal Ward Secretary

    • A vacancy exists for a Ward Secretary based in Renal Unit at Life Fourways Hospital, reporting to the Unit Manager. The successful candidate will perform clerical duties to maintain an organized healthcare unit and allow clinical staff to ensure optimal and safe patient care.

    Critical Outputs

    • Ensure the nurse’s station and nursing department are kept neat and tidy
    • Be willing to listen, help and take action of all customer complaints
    • Accurately recording admission activities and maintain confidentiality
    • Take care of routine tasks as allocated by manager
    • Assist with staffing and compile monthly reports and statistics for nursing management.
    • Encourage positive appearance and behaviour, within the hospital environment.
    • Maintain effective filling system and record keeping.
    • Assist in stock management, cycle count as per schedule and billing.
    • Assisting with document control in the unit.
    • Perform receptionist and clerical duties.
    • Maintain effective communication between customer and colleagues.
    • Answer the telephone and relay appropriate messages.
    • Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
    • Ensure principle of infection prevention and all standard precautions are adhered to; ensure safe and clean hygienic environment.
    • Foster a harmonious relationship between the staff, patients and hospital.
    • Be willing to listen, help and take action of all customer complaints.
    • Authorisations and billing of renal treatments
    • Adhering to all work policies and procedures
    • Assisting Head office with funder related and account queries
    • Assisting UM with month end reports

    Requirements

    • Grade 12
    • General administrative experience
    • Previous private health care experience will be advantageous.
    • Computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office (excel, word) is essential.
    • Well-developed telephonic and communication skills.
