National Diploma (NQF6) in Journalism/Communication/Publishing or relevant qualification recognized by SAQA. A minimum of one (1) year experience in the relevant field. Knowledge of printing and production processes. Interview techniques. Knowledge of sub-editing, proof reading and copy tasting. Research and investigative reporting. Understanding media and copyright law. Creative and analytical writing. Basic HTML & familiarity with Content Management Systems will be an added advantage. Ability to monitor and control. Expert proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Expert verbal and written communication skills, Planning and organizing skills, photography and editorial management. A valid driver’s license is essential.
DUTIES:
Contribute to the department’s stakeholder magazine in line with the communications strategy. Write and edit stories that depict the work of the department, and staff matters of interest and have them published in the environment quarterly. Contribute to the internal newsletter. Conduct research, write and sub-edit articles, and opinion pieces for the Department’s publications. Produce and distribute informative letters. Implement the production and distribution of the department’s publications portfolio, for internal and external consumption. Write and edit stories that depict the work of the department, staff matters of Interest and have them published in the environment quarterly news. Edit the content of the material (brochures, newspaper) submitted by units before design and publication. Capturing and dissemination of Departmental photographic material for publications and external stakeholders’ program. Provide photographic services to the department. Profile the Department’s activities/events on social media platforms, generate content, and keep the department’s social media platforms updated. Support the implementation of departmental campaigns. Assist with branding departmental activities and events. Assist with awareness initiatives. Profile events and awareness campaigns through social media.
