At least four years’ public library experience, including supervisory experience
The ability to speak Afrikaans in this predominantly Afrikaans speaking community will be highly advantageous
Fully conversant with all aspects of librarianship, in particular the principles of collection development, reference work, information retrieval and bibliographic knowledge
A wide reading background and knowledge of literature in general
Sound leadership and management abilities
Knowledge of the means to establish user needs
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
Initiative, adaptability and advocacy skills
Successful candidates will be required to work evenings and on Saturdays on a roster basis
Computer literacy in MS applications
