    Senior Manager: Content Processing

    Purpose of the Position:

    To ensure that the team delivers Linear, VOD Push/Pull DSTv Stream and Showmax catalogues that are 100% full and up to date all the time.  Ensure content receipted into the facility is done so timeously and that it is quality checked, processed, archived and made ready for use as input across the spectrum of video services offered by MultiChoice.

    Key Performance Objectives

    Content Processing & Management:

    • Oversee All content workflows for OTT and STB distribution – e.g. responsible for ensuring availability of metadata, video, graphics and other required distribution elements
    • Validate content availability downstream on all Linear and VOD platforms and ensure its meets QA expectations
    • Supervise content ingest, processing, quality assurance.

    Stakeholder Management:

    • Act as first technical & operational point of contact in collaboration with Media Traffic and Content Acquisition for content providers, and support file-based media operations across the various business domains.
    • Act as escalation path for prioritizing content processing, facilitating corrections to rejections and resolving issues when they arise.
    • Lead interactions, regarding technical aspects of content receipting with third party content providers and media operations teams across the company.

    Operational Delivery:

    • Manage day to day workflows for content ingestion and dependent processes.
    • Ensure content is processed on delivery and escalate any late delivery incidents to Media Traffic
    • Lead operational account management of media assets into the VoD platform by coordinating with content providers and support teams
    • Drive internal metrics for measuring operational VoD performance, quality of processes, resourcing and ROI.
    • Manage the promo library to ensure that ads/promos are up to date and to prevent using expired content in VOD file creation.
    • Ensure the deliver, timeous processing of all licensed, commissioned short and long format content required by entertainment and sport for linear transmission and other platforms.
    • Analyse playout schedules to determine priorities and type and quantity of media required.
    • Handle all media as per the playout schedule.
    • Ensure placement programming files are clipped, sent and QCed before playout.
    • Facilitate ISIS Media Management.
    • Find Legacy material and prepare for playout.
    • Provide weekly feedback to internal partners.
    • Monitor the quality checking of HD and UHD content, clipped and sent to TX (What does this mean, please write in full)
    • Generate - Process QC Pa Invoices and shift roster.

    People Management:

    • Oversee the activities of the team to ensure effective delivery of business outcomes.
    • Develop a high performing team by embedding formal performance management process using I-perform system and informal coaching. Encourage frequent knowledge sharing between team members.
    • Determine and analyse development needs for the team and ensure that identified training requirements are budgeted for and executed.
    • Interview and recruit new members of the team, including determining appropriate compensation levels with input from Human Capital.
    • Create effective workforce and recruitment demand plans to ensure that current and future business requirements can be met.
    • When required, initiate disciplinary processes for team members calling on support from Human Capital when required.
    • Resolve grievances raised by team members and escalate only if required.
    • Address poor performance of any team member through the formal Performance improvement programme and ensure that continued poor performance is appropriately dealt with.
    • Motivate team members and ensure that their efforts are recognised.

    Qualifications

    • A degree in Film & Television Studies/Media Studies/Media Operations/Engineering (Computer or Electronic) /Business Management or Equivalent
    • Post Grad will be an added advantage

    Experience

    • A minimum of 10+ years of Content Processing experience
    • Experience in creating and distributing digital video products with short turnaround times as well as larger scale digital video product launches.
    • Experienced in Broadcast Technology workflows
