Senior Process Supervisor - Operations (M Hay band) at Rand Water

Job Advert Summary    

• To ensure that water quality standards are maintained and daily potable water supply is met, by constant supervision of shifts, therefore meeting water demand required to supply customer consumption.

Minimum Requirements    

• Grade 12(National Senior Certificate)
• NQF level 6 in Water Care/ Water Science and Technology/ Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Computer literacy
• Valid driver’s license and the ability to pass Rand Water K53 test.
• 5years Water Purification Process experience
• 2 years supervisory experience
• Class V Process Controller Classification 

Primary Duties    
To oversee the following:

• Rand Water; Abstraction control of water into Zuikerbosch via canal or intake pump to meet treatment and pumping demand and to avoid overflows.
• Flocculation and Coagulation; Ensure correct chemicals are used and that correct dosing rates are applied and should be within the required set dosage rates and stock levels of chemicals are sufficient and comply with quality standards.
• Disinfection; Ensure correct dosing rates are complied with, within prescribed rates and ensure that the plant operates safely and insufficiently.
• Filtration;  Ensure filtration process is within parameters and specifications.
• Pumping; overseing  the pumping process.
• Compliance to all occupational health and safety standards and processes.
• Manage non-performance.
• Ensure correct ER practices
• Ensure that training and development needs are met in line with the agreed objectives and investing-in-me training and development needs
• Ensure wellbeing of staff at all times and refer any cases to Process coordinator and follow up
• Actively participate/ support EAP interventions in accordance with Rand Water practises and policies.
• Conduct plant inspections and report defective plant
• Ensure plant availability
• Ensure staff attendance and compile shift roster and timesheets
• Record keeping of data by accurately filing log sheets and relevant data reported to the required sections.
• Coordinate and perform shutdowns on plant and pipelines
• Issue permits and perform lockout and equipment according to the safety standards and procedures.
• Investigate and compile non conformance reports.
